Psa 2:1; Why are the nations in an uproar And the peoples devising a vain thing?
Psa 2:2; The kings of the earth take their stand And the rulers take counsel together Against the LORD and against His Anointed, saying,
Psa 2:3; "Let us tear their fetters apart And cast away their cords from us!"
Psa 2:4; He who sits in the heavens laughs, The Lord scoffs at them.
There are certain passages in the Bible, that even though they were written thousands of years ago, seem to be speaking about the current state of the world.
I've been around for more than half a century. I've almost been saved for half a century. But 2020 has been a year different from any I have known.
Why are the nations in an uproar? For it seems they certainly are.
I live in the US, and I am more familiar with US politics, but I know a little about the politics of Europe as well.
It certainly seems the rulers of the Earth are "taking counsel together Against the Lord"... and against His Anointed (including us as Christians )
It seems God is an intolerant God. He has rules. We can't have sex with whoever I want to anymore. We can't steal from people. We can't lie to people.
We can't murder people. God sure has a lot of rules we don't like. It seems the rulers of the Earth are saying "Let us tear these chains off of us".
All these Christians, and their Bibles... full of rules. Who needs them? We need to "cast away all the ropes that tie us down". We want to be free.
But none of these things surprise God. None of these things worry God. It says here that God is laughing at them. Scoffing at them.
One day the Lord will have enough.
Psa 2:5; Then He will speak to them in His anger And terrify them in His fury, saying,
Psa 2:6; "But as for Me, I have installed My King Upon Zion, My holy mountain."
Psa 2:7; "I will surely tell of the decree of the LORD: He said to Me, 'You are My Son, Today I have begotten You. ( see Hebrews 1:5; )
This is of course, a passage of Jesus. It's hard to tell reading just the Psalms. But Hebrews chapter 1 bears this out.
Psa 2:8; 'Ask of Me, and I will surely give the nations as Your inheritance, And the very ends of the earth as Your possession.
Psa 2:9; 'You shall break them with a rod of iron, You shall shatter them like earthenware.'" ( see Rev 2:27; Rev 12:5; and Rev 19:15; )
Jesus will "shatter" them. He will "break" them. They may be high and mighty today, but tomorrow...
Psa 2:10; Now therefore, O kings, show discernment; Take warning, O judges of the earth.
Psa 2:11; Worship the LORD with reverence And rejoice with trembling.
God is giving a warning to the judges and kings of the Earth here. It seems the world (the US at least) is full of corrupt judges these days.
Kings, Presidents, Prime Ministers, and Sultans need to beware.
The word "worship" in verse 11 is used quite a bit in the Bible, in this context it means...

Be a "slave" or "servant". Be a labourer. In other words, serve God and do what He says.
Psa 2:12; Do homage to the Son, that He not become angry, and you perish in the way, For His wrath may soon be kindled. How blessed are all who take refuge in Him!
Another telling verse. Jesus is the Son here. Give Homage. The word "homage" here is ...

The rulers of the world can ignore Jesus if they want to. But "His wrath may soon be kindled". There will be a price to pay.
