"And now, O LORD, God of Israel, carry out the additional promise you made to your servant David, my father. For you said to him, 'If your descendants guard their behavior and faithfully follow my Law as you have done, one of them will always sit on the throne of Israel.' 2 Chronicles 6:16 NLT

Eight times in today’s first Bible reading you will come across the word if. God says it in the verse quoted above. Then Solomon prays the other seven “ifs” as requests.

“If” populates the scriptures. Yes, even the most godly man faces positive and negative consequences for his actions.

Paul thought and prayed about the consequences of remaining faithful to the Lord. He told to those who pressed him to steer a different course: “you are breaking my heart! I am ready not only to be jailed at Jerusalem but even to die for the sake of the Lord Jesus” (Acts 21:13 NLT).

David thought about such things as well. He wrote concerning his enemies, “I love them, but they try to destroy me with accusations even as I am praying for them!” (Psalm 109:4 NLT).

What if David had chosen to stop loving and praying for his enemies?

What if Paul had chosen to agree with those who wanted him to stop moving ahead?

What if Solomon had chosen to use the new temple to promote his own agenda?

Life is an accumulation of all the results of how you handle life’s ”ifs.”

Prayer: Lord, I promise to guard my behaviors today so that I can experience Your good in each “if.”

IF though a small word can have 'big' consequences.

What IF we don't repent?

What IF we are not born again from above?

What IF Jesus came tonight?

IF though a small word can have 'big' consequences.

Thank you Nick for reminding us of importance of such a small word like IF.

What if I didn't forgive the kids before they went to bed, what if I didn't tell those I love, that I really do love them?

What if our soul is called for tonight.

What IF?

Prayer: Lord, I promise to guard my behaviors today so that I can experience Your good in each “IF”

In Jesus Name Amen.

Well said my brother!
Love you dearly.
Don't want an "IF" to come into play without me being able to say that you.

With the Love of Christ Jesus.

Hi Nick

Even as lost souls we always had a saying...

Never tell the kids off and send them to bed, without making sure things are made right before they go to sleep.

There are many permutations to this as we know, but how many argue and never correct it before bed, tomorrow could be to late to make up, tomorrow could be to late to say thank you, tomorrow could be to late to say, I love you so much.

In His Love

All of Christianity is based on the conditional “if”. An “if” is considered true or false based on choices a person makes. Their outcome is always either life, blessing, or death, cursing based on the “if” conditional choice.

There is always a “default” setting to every if condition if the condition is not met.
Not meeting the "if" condition is not only a choice one makes, but it is also a choice by not making that choice.

Deu 30:19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

Jas 4:17 Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

Of course all of our if choices were foreknown by God before the world began which makes our salvation absolutely guaranteed.
