The LORD was with Joseph, so he succeeded in everything he did as he served in the home of his Egyptian master. Genesis 39:2 NLT
Rejected, kidnapped, falsely accused. Sentenced to prison and left to rot. The outline of the script for Joseph’s life sounds depressing, and almost sure formula for developing a bitter spirit toward God and others.
Instead, Joseph emerges above his circumstances confident in God’s purposes and able to forgive those who had hurt him most. Amazingly, even in the worst of times, he never gives up on life. He never forgets God’s promises. He never stops trusting God.
What hurts and betrayals have you suffered? How have other people hurt you deeply? Joseph’s life demonstrates that nothing can separate you from God’s love (Romans 8:38-39).
Like Joseph’s youthful dreams (Genesis 37:5-11), you can have a sure vision of present spiritual blessings and future triumph through Jesus (Romans 8:18 and Colossians 3:1-4).
Like Joseph, you can remain steadfastly confident that whatever evil Satan or someone else may plot against you (Genesis 50:19-20), God will turn it around to bring good into your life and the lives of others (Romans 8:28).
You may have to wait out extremely difficult circumstances, but like Joseph you can commit to trust the Lord your God, always.
Prayer: Lord, transform me. Like Joseph, I want to enjoy Your ongoing presence and blessing in my life. And, I never want to stop trusting You.
