Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Proverbs 31:8 NIV
You may not like thinking about it, but many millions of people worldwide--even right here in the United States--are in places and situations of overwhelming suffering. The hungry, the homeless, the enslaved, and the infirm can be found in every community, and in many cases, they have no one to stand up and speak out on their behalf. That's a terrible kind of loneliness most people have no idea even exists.
One example of this kind of suffering is that of modern-day slaves. Today, there are more slaves working worldwide than at any time in human history. Millions of people worldwide are held against their will and forced to work as sex slaves, domestic slaves, and commercial slaves.
God may not have laid it on your heart to speak out against the enslavement and mistreatment of human beings--but then again, He may have--but you don't have to look far to find those who need someone to speak out for them.
Ask God to show you who needs someone to speak for them. And when He shows you who it is, trust Him enough to speak and act with courage.
Prayer: Father, help me to trust You and what You're taught me in Your Word enough to be a voice for those who can't speak up for themselves.
