Closet Christians don't want to talk about Jesus. I don't remember having a conversation with any friends, as a child or a young adult about Jesus and what He did for us on the cross. I went to Sunday School and church, but nobody wanted to talk about Jesus outside the building. God never intended for us to be Closet Christians. When God calls us to Himself and we accept His Son, Jesus as our Savior, He then sends the Person of the Holy Spirit to dwell inside us. John 14:6-Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. Our lives are changed. We no longer live by our feelings, our emotions, our own desires. The Spirit of God in us begins to give us His desires. This begins a personal relationship with God through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. -Galatians 2:20.
A Closet Christian keeps the Holy Spirit tucked away in their heart and never lets Him out to lead them. The only time they let Him out is when they want something. Closet Christians are unhappy. The very Person Who loves them, lives in them, gave them a new life in Christ, and is the power source for living a victorious life is kept in the closet.
The real you and the real me is a spirit. The Holy Spirit dwells within our spirit. Our fleshly body carries Him around.- 1 Corinthians 6:19-Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, Who is in you, Whom you have received from God. 1 Corinthians 2:12-Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit Who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God. The Holy Spirit's goal is to make us more like Jesus, show us God's plan for our lives, and tell others about Him. Acts 5:32-And we are witnesses of these things; and so the Holy Spirit, Whom God has given to those who obey Him. 1 Corinthians 3:6-9-For we are co-workers in God's service; you are God's field, God's building. Luke 12:8-"I tell you, whoever publicly acknowledges Me before others, the Son of Man will also acknowledge before the angels of God.
Do you like to talk about Jesus? Do you have new desires? Does your lifestyle honor God? Do your thoughts, the words you speak, and the things you do point to Jesus? Are you sure you will go to heaven when your journey here on earth is over? Are you sure you will one day live on a new earth with Christ? If you want to be in heaven when you die and one day live on a new earth with Christ, your faith must be in Christ and Him crucified. Your faith in the finished work of Christ will change your life. God will give you new desires, show you His plan for your life, and keep the Holy Spirit out of the closet.
Father, we know that Your Spirit in us is the One doing the living. He can not get His work done in us and through us if we keep Him in the closet. May we keep Your Word growing in our hearts and the Holy Spirit leading our lives. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
