Every born again (spiritual birth) believer has a personal relationship with God as a result of placing their faith in Jesus Christ and His finished work at the cross. Every believer is able to hear God's voice through the Person of the Holy Spirit. He came to dwell within them at the moment they believed in Christ as Savior and Lord of their life. When I accepted Jesus as my Savior, God gained control of my life. Galatians 2:20-I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself for me. God is my spiritual Father and I can now listen to and obey His voice. Jeremiah 7:23-Because I listen to and obey God's voice, He will be my God and I will be one of His people.

The Bible is the living Word of God because it is the message given to us from the "living God".-Hebrews 3:12. God Who is alive works in this world through His living Word in conjunction with the Holy Spirit.-Ephesians 6:17. In order to hear God's voice, I must know His Word. Knowing God's Word and meditating in it daily is how I keep the Holy Spirit within me, nourished. When He remains nourished, His help remains constant in and through my life.

Psalm 119:129,130-Your statues are wonderful; therefore I obey them. The unfolding of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple. God's Word sheds light on the issues of my life and gives me answers. Matthew 7:24,25-I hear the words of the Lord and act upon them (obeying them) like a sensible (prudent, practical, wise) man who built his house upon the rock. And the rain fell and the floods came and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. True wisdom comes to those who listen to the voice of God.

Deuteronomy 28:1-Because I listen diligently to the voice of the Lord my God, being watchful to do all His commandments which He commands me this day, the Lord my God will set me high above all the nations of the earth. When I tune out all the other voices in this world and follow the leading of the Holy Spirit; He will help me be watchful to do all His commandments which He commands me each day. John 10:5-And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him for they know not the voice of strangers.

The more of God's Word I learn, the more clearly I can hear from Him. Each time I read God's Word, it grows in the good soil in my heart and opens my mind to more wisdom from above. The more Word I plant in my heart, the more fruit of the Spirit ( God's character) will be a reflection of my life.

Romans 10:17-Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. John 10:27-I am one of God's sheep and His sheep hear His voice. Psalm 95:7,8-Today I will hear His voice, and harden not my heart.

Lord, keep us in Your Word so we can clearly hear Your voice. Lead us daily down the path of righteousness. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

Love in Christ,
Jan :)

Thank you so much for this Jan! I think I sometimes forget that the Lord gave us scripture so we can know him and love him and hear him better (you put it a lot better!) Sometimes it feels like there's so much finger pointing, so many people using the Word to argue for this or that, that it becomes hard to hear God's voice in the clamour. Thank you for reminding me!

So glad you've joined all the brothers and sisters here on Talk Jesus. I pray God's Word will continue to open your heart and mine to the truth. May God's blessings pour into your life in unexpected ways! :)
