When I was a child, I used to play some games. In particular there were two games that come to mind.

One was called "Simon says". I suspect most of us have probably played this game, but for those who haven't, it's a simple game.
You pick out one person in a group to be "Simon". Simon gets to tell people what to do. Usually Simon will say things like...
Simon says "hop on one foot" or Simon says "sit down" or things like this. You have to your best to do whatever Simon says.
Now every once in a while the person who is Simon will say something like "raise your right hand". and some people in the game will
raise their right hand. These people are eliminated and have to "sit out" until the next round. Why were they disqualified?
Because Simon just said "raise your right hand". He didn't say "Simon says raise your right hand". You are only supposed to do the
things that Simon tell us "Simon says..." to do. The secret of the game is... listen closely.

In a way, this is the oldest game in the Bible. Satan is an expert at "Simon says".

Gen 3:1; Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, "Indeed, has God said, 'You shall not eat from any tree of the garden'?"

Did God really say that? Satan often tries to convince us that God did or didn't say something that is almost always a lie. Usually Satan tries to get us to do whatever is the
opposite of what God wants us to do. We need to "listen closely".

Another game we used to play was called "follow the leader". It also was a simple game. You picked someone to be "the leader" and everyone else followed him or did whatever
the leader did. We often had a line of ten or eleven kids following the leader. When the leader runs, you run. When the leader sits, you sit. When the leader barks like a dog, you bark.
Every now and then, if you had a scrupulous leader, he would do something like what between two trees spaced very closely together. We had one chubby kid who could never fit
between the trees, so he was always disqualified. (for some reason he didn't like that game). Sometimes the leader would make you climb over a wall, or hang from a tree branch,
or jump over a small creek. The object of the game was to do things that other kids couldn't do. You would think the bigger kids would always win, but I remember once we had
a very small leader who climbed through a small hole in a fence. The rest of the followers were instantly disqualified at the very first obstacle.

So what does all of this have to do with Jesus and the Bible?
Twice in John chapter 10, Jesus says His sheep follow Him.

John 10:4; "When he puts forth all his own, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice.
John 10:27; "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me;

Now just like Simon says... you have to pay attention. The sheep know His voice. They know the kinds of things the shepherd would say.
But also the sheep follow the leader. Jesus says the sheep "follow Him". In other words when Jesus jumps, do you jump? When Jesus sits, do you sit?
Do you live like Jesus did? Do you act like Jesus did? Are you one of His sheep, or do you simply choose to ignore the rules?

Now unlike Simon says... follow the leader is a little different because the leader doesn't really have to say anything. He just leads by example.
It seems so many Christians today are caught up in what Jesus said or didn't say. (I'm not saying we shouldn't do this) but they base everything so much
on what He "said".. instead of also basing their walk on what He "did". Often many Christians will say "well my Bible doesn't say Jesus said this or that"
yes but.. does your Bible say Jesus did this or that? Are you a good sheep? Are you following the leader?

John 10:27-28;
- "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand.

Notice this only applies to the sheep who "follow" Jesus.
