Beginning Again with Repentance

Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38

The people listening to Peter were truly interested n finding God as they came to Jerusalem for a religious festival, but Peter's sermon prompted them into unknown territory. They were asked to repent of their sins and turn to God as if they were starting over. After they humbled themselves before God, they were promised the gift of the Holy Spirit, uniting themselves with God in a way that was foretold by the prophets.

On the day of Pentecost, the apostles gave a starting point for every believer: repent and be filled with the Holy Spirit. If your faith feels unsteady or you're struggling to believe today, perhaps the place to begin is to repent and surrender to God.

As you open your heart to God and come clean with your need for forgiveness, as all people must, you remove all obstacles to the Spirit's cleansing power and restoration. If you feel like you're starting over, you're in good company.

Prayer: Lord, I repent of choosing my own ways and thank You for the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Jesus died once and for all sins. ...repent of all wickedness and have a repentant heart for all sins that will be committed..
Remember that sin is anything that God is not!

So true...

Repent of ALL our sins

Those in thought
Those in word
Those in deed

Those we are aware of
And those we are not.

In Jesus Name
Amen
