Gethsemane Moments?

Anyone who has been a “born again” Christian for any length of time has experienced times of pressure that comes from this world. This pressure comes as the results of a person having “faith”.
Jesus said.......

Mat 13:19 When ANYONE HEARETH THE WORD OF THE KINGDOM, and understandeth it not, THEN COMETH THE WICKED ONE, AND CATCHETH AWAY THAT WHICH WAS SOWN IN HIS HEART.

Whether or not you understand the Word of God sown in our hearts, Satan still comes to try and steal the Word! We are not ignorant of his devices in how Satan tries to steal God' Word in us. (2 Cor 2:11)

The word, “Gethsemane” means, “WINE PRESS”. Gethsemane was on the mount of “olives” (Luke 22:39) This was an appropriate name for Jesus suffered great pressure because of what he knew was going to come upon him in the coming hours. Jesus knew he would be beaten, and whipped right up to the verge of physical death. Jesus was so committed to doing his fathers will, that he did not want to die before he finished his work on the cross!

Jesus sweated “blood” because of the pressure put upon him to complete his fathers will, so he prayed to his father in agony 'casting” all of his “works” upon his father saying........

Luke 22:42 Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless NOT MY WILL, BUT THINE, BE DONE.

How many times have we ever found our self praying the same words in times of great pressure?
The Bible reveals something to us about what the Lord God does to help us in these trying times.

Pro 16:3 COMMIT THY WORKS UNTO THE LORD, and THY THOUGHTS SHALL BE ESTABLISHED.

Usually, we don't know what to do when all hell breaks loose against us. If we know the scriptures we can expect that God will “ESTABLISH OUR THOUGHTS” What kind of thoughts will God establish within us?

Jer 29:11 For I KNOW THE THOUGHTS THAT I THINK TOWARD YOU, SAITH THE LORD, THOUGHTS OF PEACE, and not of evil, TO GIVE YOU AN EXPECTED END.

The word, “peace” here means, “well, happy, friendly; welfare, that is, health, prosperity, peace:”

If these are God's thoughts toward us, then these would be the thoughts God establishes in us!!!! This would be our expected end that we should be looking for, and thinking about!!

Did God “establish” his thoughts within the man Jesus after he committed his works upon his father God to do his will? Absolutely yes!!! How did Jesus overcome the shame and suffering of his cross?

Heb 12:2…......WHO FOR THE JOY THAT WAS SET BEFORE HIM ENDURED THE CROSS, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

God the father set before his Son Jesus the “JOY” which would cause him to overcome all that which was about to come upon him!!

What was that “joy” ?

The Bible tells us exactly what that joy was......

Isa 53:10 Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: WHEN THOU SHALT MAKE HIS SOUL AN OFFERING FOR SIN, HE SHALL SEE HIS SEED, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.

The joy that his father set before his Son was his “seed”. We are his “seed”!!!!! God saw that what he (Jesus) would have to go through was well worth it from his point of view.!!!

Not only did Jesus overcome because of his joy of seeing us as his inheritance, we too are supposed to overcome by seeing our joy who is Jesus Christ our Lord, God savior, brother, and King of Kings, and Lord of Lords!!!

Heb 12:1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and LET US RUN WITH ENDURANCE THE RACE THAT IS SET BEFORE US,
Heb 12:2 LOOKING TO JESUS, THE FOUNDER AND PERFECTER OF OUR FAITH,
who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

We are to overcome in exactly the same way Jesus overcame. He showed us how by his example!!!

We all go through Gethsemane Moments in this life, and if we would know, and understand to cast all of our “works” upon the Lord he will “establish” our thoughts so that they line with his thoughts so we can see our expected end.!!!!

Nothing can stop a man of faith who has his hope in God!!
