Church and why I don't go.

My local church is debt free and we have literally gave away millions of dollars last year to help advance the gospel of Jesus Christ in un-reached regions of the world. We are much stronger together then we apart.

I understand that in some areas there are not churches that have this type of commitment to the gospel. But I hope that is not stopping anyone from teaming up with ministries and that are helping spread the gospel and helping orphans and the poor. I hope you are supporting such ministries even if you dont go to a local church because we are all part of one church of Chirst. And we are called to help the poor and spread the gospel
The state of Christianity in the world clearly indicates that you and other "look at me!" churches have wasted millions of dollars. If you get a chance give some funds to advancing the Gospel of Jesus Christ in your church and immediate surroundings.

@Scripture Nomad -- your response in #41 surprised me. Churches do missions in areas they feel led to support.

Why would a church that's debt free be a 'look at me!" church? That sounds like a wonderful mission's-oriented group of people at that church. How could that be seen as wasting millions of dollars?!

Apparently you feel that home-missions is more important, well, a church can be doing both?! First being involved locally and then branching out to other areas -- foreign missions.

My dear Sister in Christ,
I mean no offense. However, those who are ensnared in organized religious entities are easily offended when someone says something that does not line up with their organizations teachings. I pray that you understand that I am not judging or condemning anyone. I am observing behaviors and mindsets expressed by those who profess to be Christians. Please re-observe Dave M.'s message. "My" church..."We" have literally given away millions of dollars..."We" are much stronger...to me this denotes separation not unity of the Body of Christ. It is almost a replay of the Pharasee and the tax collector. Now, as to my comment regarding the state of Christianity. Christianity has disintegrated into a powerless fraternal organization with charity drives. There is such a low reflection of Christ that society is not influenced by God's love and sinfulness has experienced rapid growth. I do not want to overwhelm you with what I have awakened to in the 25 + years of my walk with our Lord. I urge you to lay aside all that organized religion[guided by the human intellect] and ingest (take in) the scriptures without applying interpretations taught by religion and pray the Holy Spirit guidance to all truth. This is not a demand or command...I'm simply sharing a process with you that has opened my spiritual eyes and brought me into communion with our Lord. You are free to consider it or ignore it...no offense. I praise and thank our Lord for this discussion and your comments...He has a purpose for us both. God bless!
