Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as [being] from ourselves, but our sufficiency [is] from God, 2 Corinthians 3:5

The problem with self-sufficiency is self. This one little word makes the assumption that each individual can find a sense of completeness by simply following his own abilities, decision-making, and strengths. It also assumes that every individual has a complete understanding of what sufficiency means, looks like, and how to know when he’s obtained it.

God made relationship a priority with and for mankind. Relationship is always improved when someone meets a need. Marriage meets many needs, but not all. Friendships meet needs, but not all. There’s always something missing until you accept friendship with Jesus. You have needs that only God can meet. If you could meet all your needs there’d be no need for God.

You’ll only be sufficient when you make room for God to begin His good work in you. He will complete it, and you’ll find rescue, restoration, and purpose. Wholeness can only truly be achieved when you accept friendship with the God who actually knows where you’re going and how to get you there.
