Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.
For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:
But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

1 Peter 1 22-25

Greetings dear brothers and sisters

The incorruptible seed has been raised in many threads of late but incorrect context has been applied.

Studying this over the past few days has been richly rewarding.

So what is the incorruptible seed and what does it mean to the Christian?

Please note this is not anything to do with sinless perfection.....so lets try to keep the subject matter from going to that current hot potato

1Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

The incorruptible "seed" is the "word of God". Jesus Christ came by the same way we are born again.

Luke 1:30 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.
Luke 1:31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.

Luke 1:34 Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?
Luke 1:35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

Luke 1:38 And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.

Mary conceived and brought forth Jesus by the "word of the angel" (which was the word of God the angel had spoken unto her) But the Holy Spirit was needed to cause the seed (word of God) to be brought forth in her.

1Peter 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

Tit 3:5 he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit,

Only the Holy Spirit along with the Word of God can birth Christ in us!

2Co 13:5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

Sorry, I have a lot of time on my hands since I am retired, and I can finally do anything I want, even if I want to just sit on this forum all day long. :)

The Apostle Paul said.……

Gal 4:19 My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you,

Who would ever believe a "man" can get "pregnant" and give birth to another man inside someone else!!!

No wonder the sower who sows the Word into other men, so that they, after a time that "seed" (incorruptible seed) would produce Christ in them.
The devil would love to cause an abortion so that Christ would no be formed inside a person by " the lusts of other things. Deceitfulness of riches. Persecution. The cares of this world that would cause no fruit to come forth.

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
Colossians 3:16

Brother @Curtis your retirement is a blessing to others as you seek to share the richness of the Word

Thank you for sharing your thoughts thus far

1John 3:8-10
Children of God
…8The one who practices sin is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the very start. This is why the Son of God was revealed, to destroy the works of the devil. 9Anyone born of God refuses to practice sin, because God’s seed abides in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been born of God. 10By this the children of God and the children of the devil can be distinguished: Anyone who does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is anyone who does not love his brother.…
Genesis 3:15
15And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed. He will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”
That seed is the Holy Spirit. It is how Mary conceived and is how we become born again.

The seed is the Word of God.

The Word of God ....permanent and not subject to corruption. His word and its truth remains unchanging. Its glorty never fades. The wonderful Gospel message is unchaging , its beauty uncomparible. This is the foundation of our faith.....the unfailing, incorrupible word. Praise the Lord !

Please do not change this to a discussion on sinless perfection @Hadsa as this is not what this is about.

I don't believe I was. I thought I was posting bible verses which support your topic. In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God and the Word became flesh. I am simply stating , (well allowing the Word to state that is) the Holy Spirit is the seed which proceeds from the Father and the Son. I am not making it into a discussion which I did not create but simply replied to. I am not sure how you would find fault with what I posted in reply to this thread. This sounds more like a set up for getting booted because there is a denominational theme here contrary to what the statement of faith says. I know I answered your thread correctly.
Confessing Christ luke 12:10-12
…10And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven. 11When you are brought before the synagogues, rulers, and authorities, do not worry about how to defend yourselves or what to say. 12For at that time the Holy Spirit will teach you what you should say.”…
Did I say something not true that would require you to address me as though I did? I said the Holy Spirit is the seed and placed scripture which supports that statement.

Thank you for your kindly reply @Hadsa

You judge incorrectly though.

There is no denominational theme

There is no set up.

It is interesting that the "incorruptible seed" produces a "new heart" within man that is also "incorruptible."

1Pe 3:4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

The incorruptible seed can only be Jesus.

When God looks at us He sees Jesus. When He looks at our imperfections, He sees Jesus shine through them.

It is important to clarify this. The incorruptible seed is not our works. It is not ourselves.

The verse quoted 1 Pet 1:22-25 is evidence of OSAS. I won't discuss OSAS as it will derail. But this is an OSAS verse. It is ''the'' OSAS verse.

The second we are born again, we receive the incorruptible seed. We are born into God's family. We become full blood members of God's family. We inherit and enter eternal life John 3:16.
