Paul wrote about three chapters to the corinthians explaining how people were not to call themselves to belong to Paul, Apollos or Cephas. But ONLY to Christ because was Paul crucified for you, were you baptised in Pauls name?
This is very similar to the way many christians boast they belong to a baptist or a methodist or a salvation army. People will say im an anglican or wesleyan or lutheran or calvinist or whatever. Paul says the wisdom of the world is foolishness with God.
let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seem wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.
We need to be really careful about wolves in sheeps clothing entering the church. The trend seems to be if someone is a successful business person or boss/manager in the world the church might choose them to 'lead' and not check whether they are serving the Lord or serving themselves. Words can deceive as well. Are they demonstrating God's power...do they have signs following? Are people being healed, delivered and set free? Or are they just all talk.
Are pastors feeding the sheep, looking after them and knowing each one by name?
Are the prophets edifying the church?
Are the teachers teaching everyone to observe what the lord commands?
Something to think about.
Remember when Saul was appointed King..God tired of people clamouring for a king because all the other nations had them. But he gave the israelites what they wanted but warned them a king wasnt God. Well Saul who was tall and an impressive warrior got all puffed up didnt he and disobeyed God.
Then God chose david only a boy at the time to succeed him. He saw David was a shepherd boy and how he looked after the sheep.
People musnt think pastoring a church is anything remotly like running a business. Pastoring a church is feeding the flock and caring for them. It is not being a boss! Its actually more like being a nurse and guide.
