Two experiences with the Holy Spirit

Jesus said to the disciples on Resurrection Sunday (which was forty days earlier, according to Acts 1:3):

"On the evening of that first day of the week [Resurrection Sunday], when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!" After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord. Again Jesus said, "Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you." And with that he breathed on them and said, "Receive the Holy Spirit."" (John 20:19-22)

Notice that the disciples received the Holy Spirit on the day that Jesus was resurrected, which was almost a month and a half before they were filled with the Holy Spirit at Pentecost!

Why did the disciples have two separate experiences of the Holy Spirit like that?

Some say that the disciples received the Holy Spirit on Resurrection Sunday as a partial filling in anticipation of their salvation at Pentecost, and that it was for the purpose of empowering them for their ministry. They believe the disciples were empowered on Resurrection Sunday and that they were saved at Pentecost.

Then there are those that believe the disciples were saved on Resurrection Sunday and empowered at Pentecost.

Both groups agree that somehow the disciples had two separate experiences of the Holy Spirit (first on Resurrection Sunday and then at Pentecost), and both groups agree that one of these was for spiritual empowerment and the other was when the disciples received salvation. Which view is more Scripturally accurate?

Well I believe they receive Holy Ghost , in John 20 when Jesus breath on them.
Now on day of Pentecost in Acts , is doesn't tell that some of them had the Holy Ghost, but it also doesn't say some of them didn't
So as in all scripture , we get better details, by reading all scripture
Like a puzzle the more pieces you put together , the easier it is to see, and understand.
So I would say on the day of Pentecost, some already had the Holy Ghost, not all but some.
For instance in Acts 4:8 Then Peter , filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, ye rulers of the people , and of Israel.
Did it mean Peter received the Holy Ghost again , or each time in John, Acts 2 ,and in Acts 4 , no he received it when Jesus breath on him.
But we read in Acts about the day of Pentecost, and assume that none of them already had the Holy Ghost, when in fact some did, according to scripture.

Interesting! I have never thought about some having it and some not...
BUT... It said the Holy Spirit fell on each one of them and they were ALL filled with the Holy Ghost in Acts

"if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." (Romans 10:9)

While Jesus was alive, the disciples had confessed Him as Lord (John 13:13). Since Jesus had not yet died at that point, they could not believe that He was raised from the dead, right?

On Resurrection Sunday, the day Christ rose from the dead, He came to the disciples in a locked room:

"On the evening of that first day of the week [Resurrection Sunday], when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, "Peace be with you!" After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord. Again Jesus said, "Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you."" (John 20:19-21)

This is when they believed in the bodily resurrection of Christ, so is this when they received salvation?

Well we could say that, but would it matter if we , believe we are save
And hear these words , depart from me you workers of lawlessness I never knew you.
So I say less walk the narrow
path,press toward the mark, endure to the end, keep the faith,
and hope to hear well done my
beloved and faithful servant

Cause they will be many that believe they are saved, only to hear depart from me

I agree with your statement....but do not understand how it applies to the thread?!?
Do you believe that the disciples had two separate experiences with the Holy Spirit?

Yes I believe they did, and many more times in their life.
You see when we receive the Holy Ghost we receive a gift of the Spirit, now we don't receive all the gifts at one time, but as we grow or to say, as the Spirit grows in us, we will receive more gifts ( less of us) more of Christ, until Christ be formed in us
