Many believers today are testifying to feeling "His Presence" in the worship place or in a room or where ever they are at, but that is where the spirit of the antichrist is at for why the Holy Spirit would not "visit" like that when He is in us.
1 John 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. 2 Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:
Verse 2 above is John saying "Jesus Christ is come in the flesh" as the same thing as Paul saying "Jesus Christ is in us" as where Jesus Christ dwells presently in according to our faith in 2 Corinthians 13:5.
This is rightly dividing the word of truth because of the following verses putting the spirit of the antichrist as outside of us as in the world.
3 And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. 4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
Before, His Presence could be felt at the Temple in Jerusalem as the Shekinah glory will visit & dwell for a time. What is the Shekinah glory?
"The word shekinah does not appear in the Bible, but the concept clearly does. The Jewish rabbis coined this extra-biblical expression, a form of a Hebrew word that literally means “he caused to dwell,” signifying that it was a divine visitation of the presence or dwelling of the Lord God on this earth. But now, we are under the New Covenant and this is where the Holy Spirit dwells at now in believers ( 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 ) so we can worship God the Father any where by coming to the Son ( John 14:6 ) in honoring the Son in worship. ( John 5:22-23 )
1 Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? 20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
John 5:22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: 23 That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.
Jesus told us plainly how we will know the Holy Spirit and that is by Him dwelling in us; not as the world does by seeing visitations of spirits.
John 14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
Now if you disagree, and believe that presence you felt outside of you was the holy Spirit, then how can anyone test the spirits to know the real holy Spirit from the spirit of the antichrist?
One cannot say that if the spirit feels good, then it must be of God because there are seducing spirits out there in the world as the spirits of the antichrist.
1 Timothy 4:1Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
And the meaning of antichrist as it is used in scripture means "instead of Christ" as in "instead of the Son". This is what the spirit of the antichrist does; take your eyes & focus off of the Son in worship, prayer, & fellowship in coming to God the Father by.
In prayer....
1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do. 14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. 15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
Hebrews 7:25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
John 14:13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
In fellowship....
1 Corinthians 1:9 God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
1 Corinthians 2:2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.
Philippians 3:8 Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, 9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: 10 That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;
1 John 1:3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ. 4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full. 5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
The real indwelling holy Spirit will always testify of the Son to glorify the Son and He does that through us whereas the spirit of the antichrist does the opposite by taking our eyes off of Him in chasing after them for visitations.
John 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: 27 And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.
John 14:13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. 14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
So test the spirits; what is the phenomenon leading you to do? To go to Jesus Christ and seek His face or to seek that visiting presence again? The real indwelling Holy Spirit would never do both because He seeks to keep believers from committing spiritual adultery when they should be going to the Bridegroom in coming to God the Father by as we can only live this reconciled relationship with God the Father through the Lord Jesus Christ, our Good Shepherd & Friend.
Matthew 12:39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: 40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
