Little Faith does NOT mean Weak Faith

Little Faith does NOT mean Weak Faith

Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. (Romans 10:17) When faith comes it is never little or weak. Each and every “promise” contained within the Bible brings with it its own separate faith that is enough to bring that promise to pass for the one who possesses it.

Faith is a “spirit”, and people can be filled with the spirit of faith. (2 Cor 4:13)

There is no such thing as “WEAK” faith, but there is such a thing as “LITTLE” faith. Little faith is the same thing as having NO faith! What I mean by that, is a person can have faith in one area of their life, and at the same time have NO faith in another area.
Jesus helps a man who had faith in one area of his life but had no faith in another....

Mar 9:23 And Jesus said to him, “‘If you can’! All things are possible for one who believes.”
Mar 9:24 Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, “I BELIEVE; HELP MY UNBELIEF!”

There is only “ONE” faith! (Eph 4:5), but there are “MULTIPLE INSTANCES” of that “ONE” faith. In the same way, there is only ONE God (Eph 4:6) but multiple instances of that one God as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
There is only ONE Baptism, (Eph 4:5) but there are multiple instances of that one Baptism in the form of being Baptized in water, Baptized in the Holy Spirit, and Baptized by ONE Spirit into one body!

Faith does NOT grow in “QUALITY” it only grows in “QUANTITY”!! A man of little faith is a man who has faith in a couple of areas of their life but has no faith in all the other areas. A man of great faith is a man who has faith in every area of his life. Great faith is based on a person who knows, understands, and confesses the promises that come by the Word of God from which faith originates from.
The Word of God is the source of ALL faith, and is NEVER weak!

This Topic of being of little Faith has sparked more doctrinal arguments probably more then any other line of scripture.

Jesus knew what He meant but the church simply does not. So let's look at this and get it settled in your thinking once and for all.

Let's start with one of the more used uses of this.....Matthew 14:31

This takes place right after Peter walked on the water. Now Jesus said....
And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?

Seriously Jesus? Little Faith? The man just walked on water and is the only man who has other then Jesus.. So little Faith?
How can this be when....we only need faith the size of a mustard seed?

Matthew 17:20. AMPC
He said to them, Because of the littleness of your faith [that is, your lack of firmly relying trust]. For truly I say to you, if you have faith [that is living] like a grain of mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, Move from here to yonder place, and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you

The New Testament is full of Scriptures explaining Little Faith.....

James 1:4 is Referring to when trials and tribulations are at hand.....
Our Faith is being Tried and Tested.

But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.......
We see here Scripture says be patient .
Biblical Patience is being the Same constantly at all times. Not moved by anything but the Word of God says no matter what.

Ephesians 6:13
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

This Backs up Biblical Patience found in James.

Mark 11:23-24
23For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
24Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

Again this backs up Biblical Patience and the Ability to Stand Without Doubt and Wavor and giving up.

There is so much more in the scriptures about this but for now these will do.

Ye of Little Faith.....
Short Lived Faith.
Faith that gives up and quits before it has delivered the desired result.

It's not the SIZE OF FAITH in Question but the Strength or Endurance of the Faith.
True Biblical Faith Needs to go the distance without giving up or stopping.

Now we have an enemy the devil who will be working 24/7/365 to keep you from reaching your goal or receiving what your Faith is Believing For.

That's why we MUST TAKE EVERY SINGLE THOUGHT CAPTIVE.
What we think is what we become. Our Thinking will determine if our Faith Can Last and go the distance.

Know Your Covenant
Understand God's Word
Enjoy your Salvation
Blessings in Christ

Just the fact that Peter walked upon the water reveals that faith is always at full strength. There is no such thing as "weak" faith. Why would that be?
Because the life that every believer is living today is by "the faith of the Son of God." Nobody can have faith "in" the Son of God without first having the faith "of" the Son of God which comes by hearing the Word of God. Jesus's faith that he gives is all-powerful and is never lacking in anything. The only thing that can stop faith from working is doubt and unbelief, but that is not the fault of faith!

Full Strength? For how long?
Faith must out last time.
Its called endurance or steadfastness.

Yep even the demons believe so simply believing in God or Jesus is NOT all there is to FAITH.

We are all given thee measure of Faith.
Its up to each individual by the written Word of God to Build Up that measure of Faith.

You say ...

The only thing that can stop faith from working is doubt and unbelief, but that is not the fault of faith!

So how is it that Doubt and Unbelief is able to stop this Faith?

Because it has NOT been built up or Strengthened unto the point it can over come or stand against this doubt and unbelief which comes at us courtesy of our enemy.

See Week Faith or Little Faith is Short Lived Faith. It can not Go the Distance in order to see the Job done such as the desired result.

Yes all promises of God are ours by Birth Rights. However anything given to us By or Through GRACE must be Accessed or Possessed Through or By FAITH.

This is when we encounter RESISTANCE again courtesy our our enemy the devil.
Doubt and Unbelief is his objective.

Now we must FIGHT the Good Fight of Faith.

So @Curtis how can this be done if Faith is Not Built up Strongly Enough to Go the Distance?

Simply believing in or on God is like one who comes out of the gate full of fire but quickly tires out and can not go the Distance.

Blessings

You are missing the whole point. Faith comes from God. Are you saying God's faith does not work? Any faith a person might have comes from Jesus, not man!! If faith does not work it has nothing to do with "faith" itself, but from man's inability to keep himself from doubting!!!

Patience is what keeps faith active, not because of faith ever becoming weak because it never does.

Heb 10:23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised.

Heb 10:35 Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.
Heb 10:36 For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.

Greetings brothers @Curtis @Wired 4 Fishen

Interesting discussion.

One thing I have found when doubt (? lack of faith) arises is to pray deeply from the heart...."Lord I believe help Thou mine unbelief"
And praise the Lord....He hears, gives assurance and peace.

Brother We are all given thee same measure of Faith. It is totally up to us to build on it or not. If we do not build up our Faith we can not Stand.

If man can not keep himself from doubting then man has not the Faith to CONTINUE to trust God and puts his trust elsewhere.

We believe in a promise of God. We must use our Faith.
If it takes a day or a month or 10 Years our Faith must stay true without wavering.

When a believer gives into doubt then they have let go of enduring faith. The pressure the enemy brings proves that their Faith is Little or Short Lived or Big and everlasting and not moved.

Biblical Patience is not putting up with or dealing with BUT Being Constantly The Same at all times.

A man of "faith" is a man of "patience". Faith, and patience go hand in hand. Without patiance the man who says he has faith will not stand when any trouble comes his way!

Heb 6:12 That ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

Greetings Curtis,
It is good that you keep bringing the same scriptures and we know that scripture is truth and then it is necessary to understand how these work together.

You are trying to dispute little faith is not weak faith. The problem with this is when we see in Scripture where Jesus the Master spoke these words.

It was always when others let go of their Faith for panic or doubt and fear.
We must understand why this is.

Patience and Love are also parts or attributes of Faith. Faith can not be developed or operate out side of these .
The less these characteristics or Fruit is developed in one's life the weaker or short lived ones faith will be. Hence little faith.

Little Faith is a shallow developed faith. It comes out of the gate all Gung ho Praising God but soon caves in under pressure and gives up. This goes back to the different types of hearts or ground.

Blessings and Love in Christ

If a man's faith fails him, who is at fault the man or faith that he claims to have? Jesus said that "faith" is the servant of the believer (Luke 18:5-8) after his Apostles asked him to increase their faith. Jesus then said that faith only does what you tell it to do.

If a man has faith, then tells his faith through the words of his mouth to do something, and then speaks contrary to what he first said afterward, his faith will not perform its original intended job. This is called being double minded, and all those who are double minded will never receive anything from the Lord, for they unstable in all their ways.(James 1:6-8) Then we tell that person their faith failed them because it was not "strong" enough, when all along it had nothing to do with their faith, but their own wrong believing.

James 1:6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
James 1:7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
James 1:8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

All faith comes from God, and it is NEVER EVER weak. A man who is "weak in the faith" has nothing to with his faith being weak, it has to do with the man himself being weak in how faith works!!!
A man who is "strong" in the faith, has nothing to do with his faith being strong, it has to do with the man himself being "strong" in how faith
works!

If man fails in his faith it is his own fault, and never God who gave us his faith as a gift!

Why are you trying to turn this around?
Faith is not one size fits all.

Apostles asked him to increase their faith. Jesus then said that faith only does what you tell it to do.
Jesus said if you believe in your heart and do not doubt.

All faith comes from God, and it is NEVER EVER weak. A man who is "weak in the faith" has nothing to with his faith being weak, it has to do with the man himself being weak in how faith works!!!

What is Faith?
Its the substance hoped for that is not yet seen.

Man can know how faith works and have 3 best sellers on how faith works and yet himself live a defeated life.

Knowing how faith works does nothing in getting the job done.

Back to substance.... If you are not built up strong in your faith then this substance will not stand through the pressures the enemy brings.

Yes I agree faith never fails man but man fails faith because man has not built himself up in pure faith or what he calls faith is really foolishness.

Time tries a mans faith.
Little or weak faith will not stand the test of time and crumble.

Faith is TRUST in what you are believing in WILL Happen.
Patience or confidence dictates how much or strong your faith is.

Patience or Confidence runs out then that's when your faith quits. It has now not the strength to continue.

Patience or Confidence is a Part of Faith as is Love.
Weak in these areas then your faith shall be weak as well.

Again Faith is the substance.
Little substance does not see it through.

I wish to add this to my reply in post #11

Faith is the degree in which you trust in Gods Written Word.

Faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word Of God.

We must Build up our Trust and Confidence in what God said And That it Will Happen.

That is Faith. Little Confidence in God to preform what He said He would do is the DEGREE of FAITH he ( man) has.

True its not the fault of Faith but the LACK Thereof in man.

Blessings to you Brother

Look at faith as being like an acorn...Plant it and it'll grow!

There is no doubt that faith grows, but faith does not grow how the faith teachers have taught it for many years.
Faith does not grow in "quality" (meaning from a weakened state to a stronger state) The Lord did not say "all things are possible (if your faith is strong enough) to those who believe." Or Jesus did not say, "these signs shall follow those whose faith is strong enough......"

Faith needs no strengthening of itself, but man needs strengthening in how the "law" of faith works.

Faith does not grow in "quality", it grows in "quantity"

Example: one.

1Pe 3:10 For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:

The faith needed to make this "promise" a reality in a Christain life comes directly from this verse. The faith that comes by confessing this scripture needs no strengthening, as it is exactly the right amount of faith needed for it to become a reality. The "work" that faith needs to "work" is already described in the words of this verse.

I want to love life and see good days, therefore I will not speak evil, or speak guile.

Example: two.

Psa 103:2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
Psa 103:3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

Faith comes by me confessing this scripture. The faith that comes from this scripture is the exact amount of faith needed for me to be able to enjoy what it promises.

The faith that I have from example one will not work for example two, because they both promise different things.

My faith has grown not in quality, but in quantity.

Faith is very specific to the promise from where it comes.

A man of "great faith" has faith from many different promises that bring each and every promise to pass for that man.
A man of "little faith" only has faith from a few promises.

The more you know of the promises of God, and confess them, your faith will grow in quantity.

That acorn, you could call it seed faith....a seedling is nowhere as strong as a grown up plant....That's the way faith is....As you use it (plant it) it grows in strength and 'stature' becoming more powerful as you use it. The more you use it, the more powerful it gets.
