Is Jesus "God"?

I liken this to my son and me ...I am not my son nor is he I but you can see me in him .he is from me and part of me is why , same as with Christ he has full athourity of the father ,and what you suggest he he gave himself athourity ? God the father ,God the son and God the Holy Spirit are all the same but different personalitys of God .jesus was a humbled postion of the Son under the atouhoity of the father and could not assume the postion of God due to the humble nature if His mission on earth ,, he took the servants postion to mankind fullfilligns the plan of His Father .....Rev

Hi Rev. If this comment is to me bro, I have never suggested that Jesus gave Himself authority. I know Jesus has a humble servants ofice andthis is God's exellent leadership skills, I'll give you an example. When I was young, about 18 I worked in a warehouse. The manager of the warehouse asked me to jumpin the skip and stamp everything down somore rubbish could be putin. The manager said, "I'll doit first". To me the manager led by example here and this might not be the best analogy but it hit home forme years laterwhen I became a christian, and thought of the leadof example Christ has shown. He showed us that if we have faith in God wewill not die and went through trials and tribulations of His own whilein His earthly off, as in the likeness of man.

Hisname is not I am his name is the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the Godof Jacob. The Lord God of our fathers.
Forever means FOREVER!! You know its sosimple, Open your eyes and smell the coffee folks. NEW TESTAMENT GOD HAS
SAME NAME!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello Marcus.

The name of God in the Old Testament in Hebrew is 'YHWH', it is not Jehovah or even Yahweh.
You may prefer an English translation such as Jehovah or Yahweh, but the name of God is a specific Hebrew name.

Because this name of God is a Hebrew name, there is no direct equivalent name in the English language.
So the translators must select from one of the following names, God, Lord, Jehovah, Yahweh, etc. So if your
translation uses one of these English substitutions, remember that this is not the true name of God.

Rather, it is only an attempt at the translation of 'YHWH' and that's all it is. So for the thousands of times that God' true
name 'YHWH' is translated, don't forget that His real name is the tetragrammaton, 'YHWH',

Do not be misled into thinking you have the true name of God, because you do not.
Even the Hebrew scholars are not even sure how this name of God is pronounced.

Let God's name in the Old Testament remain in the original palaeoHebrew form and avoid
settling for second best.

I'm compelled to take the pastors way out and admit this is a point of controversy that will most likely not be settled here but in heaven before God Only .until then know that we are brothers in Christ and be content in that and rejoice our names are written in the lambs book of life ...for Christ and the cross are Gods power unto salvation and that we can not contest ! ....in His love Rev

Is Jesus, God?
To find out, we need to answer 6 questions:
• Did Jesus claim to be God?
• Does Jesus possess the attributes of God?
• Did Jesus perform miracles?
• Did Jesus rise from the dead?
• Did Jesus fulfill prophecy perfectly?
• Did Jesus teach the Bible is Word of God?

The first is: Did Jesus claim to be God?

Jesus claimed to be Messiah God

Isaiah 9:6: 6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful
Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace
Mark 14:61-62: 61 But Jesus remained silent and gave no answer. Again the high priest asked him, “Are you the Christ*, the Son of the Blessed One?" 62 “I am,” said Jesus. “And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.”

Jesus claimed to be worthy of honour due only to God.

John 5:22-23, 22 Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son, 23 that all may honour the Son just as they honour the Father. He who does not honour the Son does not honour the Father, who sent him.

Jesus claimed to be worthy of worship and accepted it from:
1. Mother of James & John: (Mat 20:20)
2. The Gerasene demoniac (Mark 5:6)
3. A blind man (Mat 28:17)
4. Doubting Thomas (John 20:28)
5. The women at the tomb (Mat 15:25)
6. A Canaanite woman (Mat 15:25)
7. His disciples (Mat 14:33)
8. A healed leper (Mat 8:2)
9. Rich young ruler (Mat. 9:18)

Jesus Appears to the Women. Matthew 28:9, "And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.” According to Jewish tradition, only God can receive worship. Jesus never rebuked anyone who worshipped Him. He even commended some.
(John 20:29, Mat16:17)

Equal with God.
Matt. 28:18:18 Then Jesus came to them and Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.”

Jesus claimed to be the object of prayer like God.
John 14:13-14 And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father.14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it
1John 14:6:Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Jesus claimed to be God. Jesus said:
John 8:19 To know Him was to know God.
John 14:9 To see Him was to see God.
John 14:1 To believe in Him was to believe in God.
Mat 10:40 To receive Him was to receive God.
John 15:23 To hate Him was to hate God.
John 5:23 To honour Him was to honour God.

Rev 22:13; Jesus is the Alpha and Omega. Therefore Jesus is God.

Isa 7:14; Jesus's name is Immanuel
Matt 1:23; Jesus's name is Immanuel and it means "God with us". Therefore Jesus is God.

Isa 9:6; The child born of a virgin (Jesus) is called Almighty God, everlasting Father. Therefore Jesus is God.

John 10:30; Jesus said I and the Father are one. Therefore Jesus is God.

Col 2:9; deity dwells in Him. Therefore Jesus is God.

Matt 2:11; The 3 wise men worshiped Him. Therefore Jesus is God.

John 1:14; Jesus is "the Word". ( Also see Rev 19:13; )
John 1:1; The Word is God. (not "a" god as one Bible incorrectly translates it) Therefore Jesus is God.

Did Jesus perform miracles?

23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people. Matt. 4:23

Miracles confirmed by Jesus’ enemies.
John 10:28-33:
28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. 30 I and the Father are one.” John 10:28-33

31 Again the Jews picked up stones to stone him, 32 but Jesus said to them, “I have shown you many great miracles from the Father. For which of these do you stone me?” 33 “We are not stoning you for any of these,” replied the Jews, “but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God.”

4 Kinds of Miracles
• Death: Raised the dead.
• Hell: Cast out demons.
• Disease: Healed the sick.
• Nature: Showed power over forces of nature.

Purposes of NT Miracles
1. To show that Jesus is God, doing the works of
God. (Power)
2. To help people in need. (Mercy)

Examples of Jesus’ Miracles.
1. Turned water into wine…the best wine: John 2:1-11
2. Feeds 5,000+ with 5 loaves: Mat 14:31-21
3. Healing of a leper: Mat 8:2-4
4. Removal of demon…man mute & blind: Mat 12:22-37
5. Healing of man born blind: John 9:1-41
6. Restored life of young man from Nain: Luke 7:11-17
7. Quiets the storm (Sea of Galilee): Luke 8:22-25
8. Walks on water: Mark 8:1-10
9. Raises Lazarus from dead: John 11:1-44
10.NT (45) - Too many to count: John 21:25

Which Miracle was Jesus’ Greatest?
Power- Mercy: Death; Hell; Disease; Nature?
The Greatest miracle in the bible has been confirmed by science!
Creation Ex Nihilo - “Out of nothing”.
John 1:1-3
1. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning.3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.

The Purposes of the miracles; Matt 12:38-41
38 One day some teachers of religious law and Pharisees came to Jesus and said, “Teacher, we want you to show us a miraculous sign to prove your authority.” 39 But Jesus replied, “Only an evil, adulterous generation would demand a miraculous sign; but the only sign I will give them is the sign of the prophet Jonah. 40. For as Jonah was in the belly of the great fish for three days and three nights, so will the Son of Man be in the heart of the earth for three days and three nights.

41 “The people of Nineveh will stand up against this generation on judgment day and condemn it, for they repented of their sins at the preaching of Jonah. Now someone greater than Jonah is here - but you refuse to repent.

Did Jesus Rise from the Dead?

Resurrection Chronology
Jesus died: John 19:28-34
Empty tomb: John 20
Reaction of Jewish officials: Mt 28:2-4 & 28:11-15
Jesus appears after His resurrection: 1 Cor 15:3-8
Explosion of Christian church: Acts 2:32 (3,000 added)
Conversion of Paul the persecutor (Acts 9) …and James.
Disciples willing to die brutal deaths: Acts 12

Not once did a single disciple or witness to Jesus’ resurrection change their story. In fact, many died a brutal death for the truth they witnessed personally.

1Cor 15:3-8
3: I passed on to you what was most important and what had also been passed on to me. Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. 4 He was buried, and he was raised from the dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said.5 He was dead on the third day, just as the Scriptures said. He was seen by Peter and then by the Twelve.6 After that, he was seen by more than 500 of his followers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have died. 7 Then he was seen by James and later by all the apostles. 8 Last of all, as though I had been born at the wrong time, I also saw him.

Overwhelming Evidence:
The evidence for the resurrection of Jesus is so solid that if it were taken to a court of law today, the judge and jury would be forced to admit it's true…based on the indisputable facts:
• The tomb was (and still is) empty.
• Early resurrection testimony: 540+ eyewitnesses to Jesus.
• Enemy testimony: Roman guards, James & Saul.
• Multiple, independent, eyewitness sources (8-9).
• Extra-biblical references (10 ancient sources*).
• Early church explosion (no other explanation).
• Transformed lives of disciples + conversion of Paul & James.
• 456 prophecies fulfilled perfectly: Jesus’ birth, death & resurrection.

People will die for something they believe to be true, but no one will ever die for something they know is a lie
* Note: The Roman Empire was one of the most powerful of all time, yet the emperor during the time that Jesus lived is mentioned in only 8 sources. Jesus? 10. His existence and accomplishments are historical facts that can’t be denied.

The facts surrounding the eyewitness testimony as it relates to Jesus are significant:
1. Eyewitnesses to events agree on major details, but differ on minor details.
2. This is the nature of NT documents - NT writers did not collude to iron out details.
3. 27 different New testament books; 8-9 different authors.
4. Multiple (8-9), independent, eyewitness, written sources dating back to the resurrection itself. These include…
5. Matthew, Mark, John, Peter, Paul, James, Luke, and the writer of Hebrews. (e.g. Luke 1:1-4)
6. 19 people named as witnesses; more than 500 others cited, 12 occasions…over 540 total. (1 Cor 15:3-8)
7. If a judge listened to 15 minutes of testimony from each of these eyewitnesses during 8-hour days, it would take almost 17 days!

HISTORY:
Luke 3:1-2
1 It was now the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius, the Roman emperor. Pontius Pilate was governor over Judea; Herod Antipas was ruler over Galilee; his brother Philip was ruler over Iturea and Traconitis; Lysanias was ruler over Abilene.
2 Annas and Caiaphas were the high priests. At this time a message from God came to John son of Zechariah, who was living in the wilderness.

Does this sound like Luke is making up a story?
1. An exact date is given: A.D. 29.
2. All 8 people are known from history (and can be
verified).
3. All were known to live at this exact time.
4. This is not a myth or fairy tale.

Extra-Biblical Sources:
The New Testament story is confirmed by 10 ancient, non-Christian sources, including:
Historians: Josephus, Tacitus, Suetonius, Thallus, Phlegon
Government Officials: Pliny the Younger, Emperor Trajan, Emperor Hadrian
Other Sources: Including The Jewish Talmud and Greek writer Lucian.
Compiling their references, we get a story congruent with the New Testament...

Extra-Biblical Sources
1. Jesus lived during time of Tiberius Caesar.
2. He lived a virtuous life.
3. He was a wonder-worker.
4. He had a brother named James.
5. He was acclaimed to be the Messiah.
6. He was crucified under Pontius Pilate.
7. An eclipse & earthquake occurred when He died.
8. He was crucified on the eve of the Passover.
This is the exact same storyline found in the Bible New Testament.
9. His disciples believed He rose from the dead.
10. His disciples were willing to die for their belief.
11. Christianity spread rapidly as far as Rome.
12. His disciples denied the Roman gods and worshiped Jesus as God.

No-one dies for a KNOWN lie.
The Apostles themselves were eyewitnesses to Jesus’ resurrected life.
• They knew first-hand whether or not Jesus’ resurrection was true.
The evidence from their life:
- They had proven moral integrity.
- They condemned lying & stressed honesty.
- They were key figures in their communities.
- They were convinced of the resurrection.
- They became bold overnight.
- They faced beatings, torture, prison & death.

Peter: Crucified
Andrew: Crucified
Matthew: Sword
John: Natural
James (Son of Alphaeus): Crucified
Philip: Crucified
Simon: Crucified
Paul: Beheaded (Likely)
James (Brother of Jesus):Stoned (Bludgeoned)
Thomas (Doubting): Spear Thrust
Bartholomew: Crucified
James (Son of Zebedee): Sword
…all willing to die BRUTAL deaths for known TRUTH.

Did Jesus fulfil prophecy perfectly?

There are over 2,500 EXTREMELY PRECISE prophecies in the Bible.
• They describe Bible names, places, events, and people…in detail.
• They also predict the future of specific nations, cities & humanity.
• These prophecies were often made hundreds of years in advance…
• …and took place well after most of the prophets passed away.
There are 456 specific prophecies regarding Jesus’ birth, death & resurrection.
• …including the mention of crucifixion - 800 years before it was invented!
• To date, about 2,000 biblical prophecies have been fulfilled precisely without error!
• What are the odds of chance fulfilment without error?
• Less than 1 in 102000 (1050 is considered statistically impossible)

There is simply no logical way to explain the fulfilled prophecies found in the Bible other than by divine origin.

Jesus Birth, Death and Resurrection.
456 specific prophecies were clearly and definitively fulfilled - including precise details of what would be done TO Jesus by his enemies.
Probability of chance fulfillment of just 8 of those 456 prophecies = 1 in 1017 … 1 in 100,000,000,000,000,000

Need some perspective? For Jesus to fulfil just 48 of His 456 prophecies by chance, the odds would be = 1 in 10157
1 in 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000, 000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000, 000, 000, 000, 000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000, 000, 000,000,000,000,000
(Anything beyond 1 in 1050 is statistically impossible.)

Only ONE explanation
The odds that Jesus fulfilled all 456 individual prophecies by accident are statistically impossible. The ONLY way he was able to fulfill every prophecy perfectly (which He did) was because He is who He claimed to be: God
Are you willing to base your eternal security in a belief system or person other than Jesus (who proved He is God)? If so, the odds of you being right are literally impossible.

Seeing as the dictionary of the JW,s gives a thirteenth century monk by the name of Raymundus Martini the honour of constructing the epithet 'Jehovah,' seemly he took the vowels from 'Elohim' and 'Adonai' and constructed Jehovah, how does it appear in the Bible script. Yahweh yes, Jehovah no.

Mat 28 : 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

Given the above. Would God want His children baptized in any other name than His own? God the Father God the Holy Spirit and God the Son. The Trinity is our Triune God. YAHWH YASHUA same root, of the same cell, begptten. Jesus Christ is also God.

Question: Who is Jesus?

Answer: God (John 1:1,14,17; Titus 2:13; 1 John 5:20)

Question: Who is Jesus?

Answer: The Almighty (Rev 1:8)

Jesus Christ is God.

And if one does not believe it is so, they only need sincerely ask Him to reveal Himself to them. Let the God who answers be GOD. For nigh unto 2000 years after Christ walked this earth among men, there were no Bibles, no proofs, no written testaments in the hands of the common man - and yet Christ, by His Spirit, was everywhere,, bidding men, women, and children, to come to Him, answering when they called out His name ...and that by itself is more proof than any man should need.

Amen brother. Aquinas once said, For those with faith, no evidence is necessary. For those without it, no evidence will suffice.

However Jesus’ last command was: "And He said unto them, Go ye into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature.
He that believeth and is baptised shall be saved , but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In My name shall they cast out devils, they shall speak with new tongues, they shall take up serpents and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them.
They shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover. So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, He was received up into heaven and sat on the right hand of GOD.
And they went forth and preached everywhere. The Lord walked with them and confirmed the Word with signs following. Amen." Mark 16: 15-20.

If the Apostles had NOT gone forth, and preached the Gospel, if they had left the lost to sincerely ask Him to reveal Himself to them, where would you and I and the world be now?

The whole purpose of Christ coming on Earth was first to redeem mankind from the sin of Adam and Eve and to bring them back to a relationship with Jesus; to get to know His Loving Father with the power of Jesus Christ in your heart, and in your soul and in your spirit. This is the only way. There is no other way except through the power and sacrifice of Jesus Christ on Calvary. The sacrifice for all mankind with the Gospel of Truth which is Jesus Christ and Him Crucified. And if we take Calvary out of the Gospel, then we have no Gospel to preach because it is Christ’s sacrifice and the redemptive Blood of Christ that redeems us all from sin. There is other way to God.

I dont know why you people just cant accept what you read and have to add what is not there.
Matthew 4:3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

Matthew 4:6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

Matthew 4:8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;
Matthew 4:9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

Satan calls him the Son of God, not God. Do you not believe what is written? I mean how plain does it have to be! And on the last temptation to offer to God what is already his is about the most rediculous thing I have ever heard, like Satan could tempt God with what he already has.

James 1:13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:

But thats ok you can just go on calling God a liar and say that the witness of his son is a lie. Im not.

Marcus, the Son of God is God also. It is Triune God, the scriptures don't lie Titus 2:13 just for starters.

Also Jesus calls Himself God in Mat 4:7. He is calling Himself the tempter's God.

I dont know why you people just cant accept what you read and have to add what is not there.

Frankly, a lot of us seem to behave much like the religious Jews of Jesus' day when it comes to discussing the 'Trinity; All sorts of alarm bells go off and the accusations of heretic soon begin to appear, If it's any comfort, some intransigent doctrinal fanatics accused Jesus of being the devil and so I'm not so easily threatened by this kind of accusatory nonsense.

It seems that the problem is not so much with the basic ideas behind the so-called 'Trinity' as it is about the convoluted manner with which it's usually undersood and explained. Most Christians are hard pressed to successfully enunciate their own triune-self, (body, soul and spirit), .... much less a triune God..

Since our desire is to truly worship the Living God in spirit and in truth, we should first want to rightly identify Him in order not to serve foreign gods.

Christians don't seem to have a problem identifying Father God; at least, concerning His existence. Yet, it remains true that there is a large chasm between what many Christians believe concerning His true identity; about His true face ... His character and attributes.
For some, it seems that the Holy Spirit is a little more challenging to properly identify. Most imagine a mysterious ghostly form gazing over heaven and earth and occupied with performing the wishes and commands of Father God.
However, it's the ideas concerning Jesus which seems to have given a lot of Christians the most difficulty. It's often compounded difficulty because Jesus is also said to be the 'Word'.

John 1:1 says " In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made".To properly identify Jesus, we must first have a full understanding about the origin and meaning of the 'Word'.

The Word was born in the very heart of God; in His innermost being. In God "the Word" was formed and that Word formed all His eternal counsel of what was to be. God worked on a plan. In His inner self a fantastic great idea evolved, a thought which contained all His intents and purposes. And this was with God and remained hidden with God as a yet unspoken thought.

The Word was with God, the Word was God. That plan, that unspoken Word, is what gave substance to the beginning of everything.
Before God uttered one single word, that Word, (meaning the complete plan of God), was prepared in Him. God had thought of everything; including even the most trivial details. He considered and concluded to Himself, "This is it!". This is the plan I will accomplish.

In the beginning this Word was with God and all things came to be of that Word. Without the Word, nothing of that which has been created since the beginning would have existed says John. It was this very fact that formed the basis of John's thinking and the starting-point of his gospel, (John 1:1) and also his letters (1John1:1).

Clearly, the 'Word' cannot be perceived as an independent personage. Similarly, the figure of 'Wisdom' in Proverbs 8 is not a personage.

The Word of God became flesh in the womb of Mary. Therefore, Jesus is the Word made flesh.
It's not for nothing that Mary said, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to Your word”.

It was the eternal Word of God which impregnated Mary and behaved as the *****/seed of God. This Word is connected to the power of God's Spirit and overshadowed Mary.and she received the seed of God, His Word,

Jesus, as Word of God, is the incarnation of the invisible God's thoughts. He is the firstborn of all creation because only in Him has Father's ultimate intentions and purposes for mankind reached it's glorious fulfillment.
Therefore, the statement of Jesus saying, "Before Abraham was, I am", (John 8:58), is abundantly: clear. Before Abraham existed, the New Creation (including Jesus), existed in the depths of God's innermost being as the 'Word'. Before his fall Adam was the immature man of God, but the last Adam was the mature. The stupendous difference between a caterpillar and a butterfly!

In this very day and hour, God is still working with His original intentions; according to His Word. He continues to accomplish His original plan; He remains active with the, "Word that is from the beginning". Father God remains completely dedicated to the full realization of His Word, His plan.

Thus we Christians too declare of ourselves, "Be it be for me according to your Word".
