With the gun debate raging across America and the 2nd amendment under assault should Christians carry weapons or do we need weapons?

We have to put on the amour of God.

Ephesians 6:10-11 (KJV)
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

[11] Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

Our fight is not with our fellow man but with satan and his angels

Ephesians 6:12 (KJV)
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places .

What about our trust and faith in The Lord would owning a gun hamper this trust we are suppose to have in him?

How about a scripture that forbids a Christian from owning weapons? There are none.

The apostles had swords, if there was a prohibition against Christians owning, or carrying weapons why nothing from Jesus, or Paul?

After seeking what the make up post did this should be a real can of worms ....! Lol I look forward to reading you're responses ..when I first got saved in 88 I worked in a pawn shop and had to wear a 38 snubnose ...ill read a while and then share ...Rev

Actually Paul nor Jesus carried a weapon

Peter did and where did it get him?

Matthew 22:37-38 (KJV)
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. [38] This is the first and great commandment.

I did it on another forum and received over 5000 hits and a heated but edifying discussion

I expect the same here!

Proverbs 29:25 (KJV)
The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe.

The weapon man is suppose to have is Trusting God

Exo 22:1 "If a man steals an ox or a sheep and slaughters it or sells it, he shall pay five oxen for the ox and four sheep for the sheep.
Exo 22:2 "If the thief is caught while breaking in and is struck so that he dies, there will be no bloodguiltiness on his account.
Exo 22:3 "But if the sun has risen on him, there will be bloodguiltiness on his account. He shall surely make restitution; if he owns nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft.

It appears that if you kill someone who is breaking into your house, you will not be held liable for it.

Luke 22:36; Jesus actually tells them to go buy a sword if they don't have one.

All through the Bible are wars and rumors of wars; defending your country, your faith and your family.
I can tell you anyone breaking into my house and threatening my family might be in for a surprise.

Ever heard of a guy named David and a Philistine named Goliath? Wasn't there a slingshot in that story?
How about Samson killing 1,000 men with a donkey's jawbone?

The word "sword" is in 384 verses (King James), now many times it is used metaphorically for something (like the Bible).
But far more often, it is speaking of a actual sword. The word "spear" is mentioned in 39 verses. (KJV)

Everybody in the bible are not Christians or trust in God!

I would ask you if some one broke in your house and God forbid it happens but if it happened I would ask why is that person breaking in your house what do you do to deserve this?

Here is why I would ask?

Amos 3:6 (KJV)
Shall a trumpet be blown in the city, and the people not be afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the Lord hath not done it ?

Why is evil coming to your house?

Servants of God are suppose to have hedges around them. There family and there property

Psalm 34:7 (KJV)
The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.

Job did not own a weapon and The Lord let satan destroy his property and family
Job did not take up one weapon

Job 1:6-9 (KJV)
Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord , and Satan came also among them. [7] And the Lord said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the Lord , and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. [8] And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? [9] Then Satan answered the Lord , and said, Doth Job fear God for nought?

John 18:10 Simon Peter then, having a sword, drew it and struck the high priest's slave, and cut off his right ear; and the slave's name was Malchus.
John 18:11 So Jesus said to Peter, "Put the sword into the sheath; the cup which the Father has given Me, shall I not drink it?"

Apparently Peter had a sword, Jesus rebuked him when he used it, but was it because he was trying to protect Jesus, or was it because Jesus knew his destiny and didn't want Peter to try to prevent it?

Job 1:11-19 (KJV)

But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face. [12] And the Lord said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord . [13] And there was a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house: [14] And there came a messenger unto Job, and said, The oxen were plowing, and the asses feeding beside them: [15] And the Sabeans fell upon them , and took them away; yea, they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. [16] While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The fire of God is fallen from heaven, and hath burned up the sheep, and the servants, and consumed them; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. [17] While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The Chaldeans made out three bands, and fell upon the camels, and have carried them away, yea, and slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. [18] While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, Thy sons and thy daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother's house: [19] And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.

Job took a beating an never went and got a weapon

He may not have had one back in those times, but he will.
Rev 2:16 'Therefore repent; or else I am coming to you quickly, and I will make war against them with the sword of My mouth.
Rev 19:15 From His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may strike down the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty.
Rev 19:21 And the rest were killed with the sword which came from the mouth of Him who sat on the horse, and all the birds were filled with their flesh.

It's obvious Jesus did not want him to use it. Remember Peter denied Jesus 3 times and the Lord had to put the person Peter cut ear back on. Was force needed, was a weapon needed!

don't you think that the sword is his word the same weapons he gave his servants

Ephesians 6:13-18 (KJV)
Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. [14] Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; [15] And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; [16] Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. [17] And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: [18] Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
