    Gossip & Slander

“A man who lacks judgment derides his neighbor, but a man of understanding holds his tongue. A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy man keeps a secret” (Proverbs 11:12-13).

The Bible tells us that “a perverse man stirs up dissension, and a gossip separates close friends” (Proverbs 16:28).

    Parables of Jesus

Jesus' parables are short stories that teach a moral or spiritual lesson by analogy or similarity. They are often stories based on the agricultural life that was intimately familiar to His original first century audience.

Some aspect of an unfamiliar concept, such as the kingdom of God, was compared to something from everyday life that could easily be understood.

    Your Comfort Blanket

'God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort.' 2 CORINTHIANS 1:3

Lots of children have a special blanket or a toy that they take everywhere. Perhaps you remember having one when you were little...you even may have it still! Have you ever been around a child who wants their comfort blanket buts it's has gone missing, 'AAAAGGHHH' the deafening sound is still ringing in your ears: utter chaos, frantic parents, screaming child, bedlam!

God is described as the 'God of all comfort'. We may grow up and no longer need our comfort blanket, but we never stop needing comfort. We all need to feel safe and secure; loved. There's no situation you can be in, nothing so bad you can experience, where God, the God of all comfort, can't meet your needs. He's like the ultimate comfort blanket, always there, always ready; He never goes missing and is never unavailable.

God promises that He will use all our hard times to help others, so nothing we go through ever goes to waste. Listen: He comes alongside us when we go through hard times, and before you know it, He brings us alongside someone else who is going through hard times so that we can be there for that person, just as God was there for us. We have plenty of hard times that come from following the Messiah, but no more so than the good times of His healing comfort; we get a full measure of that, too.'
