"If that [is the case], our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver [us] from your hand, O king. "But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up." Daniel 3:17-18
Three Hebrew men of God--Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego--were faced with a situation many might see as a true dilemma, meaning a choice between two equally bad options. Those two options were to either (1) worship King Nebuchadnezzar's gold idol, or (2) be tossed into a blazing hot furnace.
However, these men of God didn't see their choice as a dilemma at all. In fact, for them, there really wasn't a choice to make. They weren't going to serve the king's gods or bow to his idol. Period. And if that meant dying in a fiery furnace, so be it.
Can you remember a situation in which you were asked to do something you knew wouldn't please God? Maybe a situation at your own business or at your place of employment?
Living in this fallen world means you may be faced with choices between honoring God or compromising your faith. Can you trust God enough to make the right choice?
Prayer: Lord, I will serve and obey You and You alone, even when it means facing all sorts of difficulties.
