Why is this video shocking? Shouldn't this be the normal standard for a sermon. What happened to preachers who preached from the Word with conviction. There are still a few pastors and apologists who reach this standard on a consistent basis such as John Piper, John Macarthur, and Ravi Zacharias.

Seems like you and some others do not comprehend the "shocking" part. Its shocking because its NOT the usual preaching you hear, so to your average believer it is new, deeper, its shocking to them. Its not shocking in the negative sense.

I have seen this on YouTube.com abit ago. Chad, Mr. Washer does not care about his life. He died already. The scripture speaks in Revelation 12:11 "And they overcame Him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they love not their lives unto death." God is raising up a people who will leave the public opinion & acceptance, & preach the truth. Their is a prosperity message, granted, but it's not the one we have become accustomed to. Joshua 1:8 (NKJV) "This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate therein day & night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success." Chad, it's been quite a while since I've been here, but I thank you for sending this to me. I don't know when the next time will come that I post, but I must check me out. I CANNOT afford to go to hell for anything, or anyone. God help us all.....

Chad, and to all who have replied, I want to add my owns beliefs and impressions here, if I may. The approximate 1 hour that it took to watch this video of Pastor Paul Washer, whom I was actually surprised to learn was of the Southern Baptist denomination, sped by - leaving me first in tears because of the TRUTH of his message, and secondly, leading me to pray for all of my fellow human beings, believers and non-believers alike. For all of us who have not only read, but STUDIED, the only truth in this world, The Holy Bible, we know Pastor Washer was right. He was right. As a 52 year old "born-again" Christian woman for the past 5 years, I made it my business to learn about God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, taking almost 2 years to thoroughly study every word of this most phenomenal book, which is our guide for life here on earth. I knew that if the Bible warned my of false teachers and false prophets, I wanted to the Holy Spirit to be my guide through the Bible. As a result of this, I am able to discern whether a preacher, evangelist, etc. is telling me the truth of God's Word - because I first learned it for myself, with the Holy Spirit more than happy to guide me from verse to verse, page to page, book to book. I am right now HUNGERING for a REAL church home, where I can be taught more truth and fellowship with other Christians who want to hear only the truth. I attended a church (an Assembly of God) for almost 4 years, and finally stopped attended it when I saw so many people going without healings, hearing guest pastor's wives gossip and back-stab other members of the church, the pastor stopping the flow of the Holy Spirit over time by constantly watching the clock to keep the service within the timeframe preferred by the "money people" in the church, and finally, to finding so much untruth in the sermons being taught - because I had already learned the truth for myself. I can tell you which speakers, pastors and evangelists are worth watching or not on TBN and other "Christian" television stations because of "catching" them teaching God's "breathed" Word incorrectly and/or out of context. God is teaching me and calling me into evangelism because HE wants ALL OF HIS CHILDREN to be taught the truth. He doesn't care if you like what His Word says or not; He loves us all so much that He will escort us to the gates of hell because we chose "our will" over "His will." I am much more concerned about God using me as an instrument on this earth to take back souls from Satan that rightly belong to God. I won't sugar-coat my teaching and I won't baby-sit "but I want Christianity to feel good all the time" people who get offended when hearing God's Truth. I think we're all old enough here that we've heard the expression: "The Truth Hurts." Well, sometimes it does. But you can be promised in the long run that if you stay on track with God and the way HE wants us to live on this earth, day by day, you see your life being so much more that you can ever imagine with your finite mind. God, I am yours - Do with me as you please - and I promise to never care more about what another person might think of me, than what You think of me. Use me, Lord, for Your good and Your glory! Christians, God's Book is full of "meat and potatoes" - try it, it's so much healthier to get into God's Word this way than to be satisfied "sipping the milk." The "sippers" are the ones who will offended by this type of TRUTH TEACHING! Me, I need the meat and potatoes required to keep me strong enough to be a warrior in God's Army. Are we Christians at war? Yes, we always have been! Our enemy's name is Satan - why do you think "God-breathed" Ephesians 6:10-17 for us? Onward, Christian Soldiers! Milk sippers, come on, catch up with the rest of us and let's give the enemy a run for his money!

I think this video is powerful and moving. If the majority of Christians believe that the prayer of salvation is enough to get into heaven and then they live anyway they want to in the meantime because of being misled by false teachings it is a scary scary thing. I see this among many of the Christians I know, participating in many worldly secular seemingly harmless things. I believe it is hard enough to fight with the sinful nature we have been naturally given, not to add more pollution that will make the fight even harder.
