I want to point out and make clear that no where in the Original translations of the Bible does it say Salvation is free nor anything like it. Romans 6 says "For the wages of sinne is death: but the gift of God is eternall life, through Iesus Christ our Lord." God has offered us a gift, but man can reject a gift.

Did you read any of my replies? You must realize that it's free if we accept it like you said, but once we accept that gift, we are now to place our lives in the hands of the Savior and stop making ourselves Idols above God. The problem is, the grace of God has been turned into lewdness like Paul has said. Your words are an example of how the grace of God has been twisted to such an extent we are told we can live lawlessly once we accept this "free gift" from God to do and will as we please, yet we still inherit God's blessing. When the children of Israel turned against God, God did not allow them into the promised land. We are promised a land, that is heaven, and we will not inherit it if we turn away from God. Paul even states that many in the Old Testament are examples of what not to do. I will post again what I had put earlier:
Ok, I see. Paul states that whoever confesses with his mouth and believes in his heart that Jesus is the Son of God, they will be saved. Most people think that this verse means "believe once" however the word believe is a continual thing. We believe (meaning currently, now, we are believing) that Jesus is the Son of God. Believe, Paul says, in the heart. when someone denies Christ through their actions, they are denying what Christ said. Let me expound. "Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ (Matthew 7) MANY! MANY are being deceived by the preachings of watered down, emergent, self seeking churches. Jesus Himself says that there will be those who call themselves Christians (see Matthew 7) and will say "LOOK God we did all these things in YOUR name" but He will say "Depart from me" that's a scary thought to know I have brothers and sisters who are being deceived weekly if not daily because of someone who told them they didn't have to live a life of holiness, but rather except this free gift because it's a one way ticket to eternity. Jesus later says "The way is narrow and hard that which leads to life, few find it." In the actual scripture, as I was paraphrasing Jesus mentions that the road is narrow and so is the gate and that it's hard. What does that tell us, that we will have to battle, not to gain entrance but to maintain a life of godliness. this is backed up by Paul's teaching of working out our salvation through fear and trembling. |

Lol, alright then. My suggestion: take a break from posting, because it is evident you need to study it more. It's a good thing though that you want to be like Berea and study the word to see if what I and Chad are saying is correct. thanks for doing that.

Ill be honest I haven't read all 128 posts on here and I don't wanna say something you have already covered, but I was reading about you tlaking about salvation being a free gift or not and I felt drawn to two passages:
Romans 3:23-24 "23for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus" Ephesians 2:8-9 "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9not by works, so that no one can boast" Im sorry if you've already looked at these and Im covering old ground. But does this not suggest that redemption and therefore salvation are free. That is the principle of atonement surely? Please teach me: deeper you said that it is not a free gift but surely from these verses the gift is free. I agree that faith without works is no faith at all, but we are freely redeemed are we not? |
