    - A Dog Named Judah

    Hey there!

I woke up to the phone ringing, it was my mother. I
    could barely
understand what she was saying because she was
    fighting back tears, I
tried to pull myself together not knowing what she was
    going to say.

    I said, "What's going on?"

She said, "I was just calling to tell you Happy
    Birthday".

I said, "Thank you ma, now calm down! Why are you so
    emotional?"

She said that she started thinking about me and she
    remembered a time
when I was nine or ten years old. We were driving down
    the freeway and
she saw a car that she loved. At this point I started
    to remember this
    too.

At that time I said to her, "Mama, I'm going to buy
    you that car and a
house and I'm going to take care of you when I get
    older."

She replied, "That's nice baby." And she put it out of
    her mind.

Well, she woke up on my birthday with that memory on
    her mind. And she
realized that she is living in that house with that
    car in the garage
and her son is taking care of her. She became so
    emotional because her
baby (that little boy is now 38 years old) has made
    all of her dreams
come true. That was so powerful for me to hear. I had
    to send this
email to say thank you for putting me in a position to
    take care of
the people I love. It's such a good feeling for a
    man-child to be able
to care for his mother. And to every parent I just
    want to say you
never know who you're raising. Be the best parent that
    you can be.

As my feet hit the floor I said a special thank you to
    God for another
year. Dear Jesus am I grateful. I went on line and
    saw birthday
wishes from Japan, New Zealand, Africa Australia and
    Iraq not to
mention here in America. That means the world to me to
    have so much
respect and appreciation from all over the world.

Every year I reflect and ask myself what do I want to
    do now. A few
weeks ago I was talking to a friend of mine and I was
    telling her that
I feel like I'm getting older and that maybe it is
    time for me to slow
down and consider starting a family.

    I said, "I think I'm ready!"

    She said, "No you're not!"

She told me that I work too many hours and that I
    travel too much. I'm
on the phone all day and I don't have time for myself
    so there is no
way I would have time for a family. Not to mention
    that I have lived
alone all of my adult life and I am not used to having
    people in my
    space.

She said, "You're not even ready for a dog."

I said, "You don't know what you're talking about."

She said, "Prove it! If you get a dog and do a good
    job with it then
    I'll think your ready."

    I said, "Bet!"

I went to the store and bought a puppy. She was so
    sweet and calm, she
played with me and let me tickle her. She was great! I
    named her
Judah. She's a three-month old Wheaton Terrier. On the
    way home from
the store I called my friend and told her that I had
    bought a puppy.

She said, "I give you 24 hours!"

I got the dog back to the house and all hell broke
    loose! That dog
tricked me--that dog wore me out! I was cleaning up
    dog crap all day.
She was whining and barking. Every time I picked up
    the phone, she
was chewing up everything she could get her teeth
    around. I would be
trying to write and that seemed to be the time she
    wanted to act up
    the most.

Not 24 hours later I found myself calling the store
    asking about
their return policy. I hope Judah finds a nice family
    who has the
patience to deal with her. (smile) Maybe my friend is
    right.
Anyway--I'm expecting a phone call any minute because
    she doesn't know
that I returned the dog to the store. And she's
    finding all of this
out as you are. Good thing it wasn't a child, I hear
    you can't return
    them....LOL

Thanks for the happy B-Day wishes.

    God bless,

    Tyler Perry

P.S. I will spend this 38th birthday in reflection and
in gratitude to Christ for all he's done.

I had a feeling Tyler Perry was a born-again Christian. Its amazing how you can see (or sense) the light of Christ in someone. Nice to see that in a world wide celebrity like himself.

Thank you for posting this. I can (as you know Coconut) relate to this in a certain way (except the fame part *cry* lol).

    GOD bless

Tyler Perry is so awesome! I really enjoy all his work... I was thinking that if God let me carry out my passion with theater, I would love to work for him. He's so funny and so so so super humble.
