putting ring as a promise to Jesus can do little to prevent you from entering into sex before marriage.it is your determination with the help of God that can stop u from sex before marriage.

It is not that I feel I need a ring to make this promise to God but when I feel the temptation it is something to remind me about my promise.

Some Christians wear a cross around their neck to remember the amazing thing that the Lord Jesus Christ has done for us.
The ring is to also show people my promise to God with out having to debate with others. (Like kcline1 has said above)

I have already made my promise to God and will always keep this promise! and I know I dont need a ring to show it. But it has been really interesting seeing all the mixed view so thank you to everyone who had shared their thoughts.

I think it is a great idea. Why do you wear a wedding ring, if not to show the world the promise you made before God?
It's a good reminder of the promise you've made. And it's a wonderful conversation piece for the curious and the lost.

how does chastity rings look like???

I'm wearing a regular ring...Sadly I lost the ring and pearl I got from my purity class 7yrs ago....
It doesn't really matter, but what I like about these on this site it has writings on it, or some might have bible verses.

I don't see any harm in it, only good that could come out of it. As mentioned, the ring doesn't do anything supernatural in preventing you from what you would regret later, but it's more of a reminder to yourself of God's Word on the subject. Also, as mentioned, it's a great testimony to others who may ask what the ring is for. Kinda like baptism in a way. The water doesn't "do" anything, per say, but it's a declaration to those around you of your relationship with Christ.

I have heard of this, of course after I was married. (haha) --But I do think this is a great outward testimony to others. Some churches have done a "contract" so to speak about not having sex before marriage and I have to say no matter what it is, I am glad pastor's, youth pastor's and those who participate are declaring this in our day and age.

My daughter is 14 and already has had a boy try to kiss her or other boys try to ask her to be their girlfriend. We dont allow either one our kids to entertain the boyfriend/girlfriend world because it's dangerous and they are simply too young. Even when people joke with my children and ask them, "so how many boy/girlfriends do you have now" ... just so that the seed isn't planted I cut off the conversation immediately. I have told them they have plenty of time to allow God to bring someone into their life. I have also taught them first comes God, then comes friendship! lol not first comes love, then comes marriage... hahaha

Sure -- a ring, a contract or some physical object isn't going to be the stopping factor if and when one is faced in the actual choice making situation, rather it can be a reminder of a promise made, or a ministering tool for someone on the verge of making that decision.

On my 14th birthday my family took me camping and I was allowed to bring my best friend, Steven(who would later become my husband) as long as he slept in his own tent. When we got to the top of the cliff we were hiking up, my Dad got down on one knee and gave me my purity ring, it is one of my favorite memories. Steven thought it was very cool, we had talked about waiting for marriage before, it was what both of us wanted.
Shortly after, Steve and I started dating. I made sure I wore my ring not just any time I was around him, but any time I was out of the house. It was a deterrent for any guy who wasn't truly interested in me for me, and it was a great conversational piece between me and other girls. It was also a reminder for Steven and I of the promise we had made to God, to ourselves, and to each other. By the grace and strength of God, not any power in the ring, we both remained completely pure. After 4 years of dating, Steven and I got married, and in the service after walking me down the aisle, my Dad removed my promise ring before giving me to Steven to receive my wedding ring. This is also one of my favorite memories.
I still have the ring, and if I have a daughter her Daddy will give it to her on her 14th birthday.
Its just a nice symbol that has the potential to become a wonderful memory.
