Meet Jesus - 05-31-06, 08:23 AM

Who is this Jesus? Why do I need a savior? How must I respond to Him?

If you're like many people today, you've heard the name of Jesus. You may think of Him as a religious leader or perhaps as a really good man who lived 2,000 years ago. But have you ever wondered if He could possibly make a difference in your life today?

What God Wants

Did you know that God loves you and wants to have an ongoing relationship with you - one in which you both talk to and listen to Him? One in which you allow Him to be a part of your life decisions? He wants you to experience an abundant life [John 10:10], which He knows can be found only in Him. He wants you to be set free - free from your past, from guilt and shame, from bondage to sin, from addiction, from selfishness.

God's Plan

God has a plan to accomplish all of that. That plan is Jesus Christ. Jesus is the spotless, sinless Son of God. He came to earth to "rescue" us from sin. You already know that wrong-doing has a penalty. Well, the penalty for our sin is death - eternal separation from God. But since God loves us so much, He Himself took ownership of that penalty. He sent His Son, Jesus, to earth to pay the penalty for our sins. Jesus was crucified by people who didn't understand who He was or why He had come. Jesus willingly died on the cross in our place, fulfilling God's plan to redeem mankind - even the very people who nailed Him to the cross! Though He was perfect and sinless, He took our sins upon Himself so that we might have a restored relationship with our Creator [1 Peter 2:24].

But the story doesn't end with Jesus' sacrificial death. The Bible says that just three days after He was crucified on a hill outside Jerusalem, God raised Him back to life! Jesus is no longer in the grave - God raised Him from the dead just as He will raise us at the close of history. There is a day coming when time shall come to an end and all people will stand before God in judgment [Revelation 20:11-12].

You Choose

You can either accept Jesus' substitutionary death on your behalf, or reject it. If you reject it, you will stand alone before God on the day of judgment and give an account of your life. You will fall short of God's standards [Romans 3:23] and will have to pay the penalty yourself [Romans 6:23] by spending eternity in hell [Revelation 20:15], forever separated from God. But if you accept Jesus as your personal savior, God will accept His sacrificial death on your behalf. It's not a choice you can make on that final day - it's a choice you must make today - either to accept Jesus or reject Him.

God loves you and wants you to spend eternity in heaven with Him. Make the decision today to accept Jesus as your personal Lord and savior. Here's how simple it is.
  1. Come to Him just as you are (don't wait until you feel "good enough")
  2. Admit your need (I am a sinner)
  3. Be willing to turn from your sins (repent)
  4. Believe in your heart and mind that Jesus is the Son of God, that He died on the cross for you and was raised back to life (accept Him as the only way to God)
  5. Talk to Jesus and invite Him to come into your heart and life and save you from your sins (receive Him as personal savior)
Here's what to pray:
"Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am sinful and in need of Your forgiveness. I repent of my sinful lifestyle and I want to turn from it and follow You. I believe that You died to pay the penalty for my sins and that You rose from the grave. I invite You to come into my heart and become my Lord and Savior. I ask this in Your name. Amen."

A New Creation

If you sincerely meant what you just prayed, you have received the forgiveness of God and been accepted into His family [Ephesians 1:15]! You are a new believer in Christ Jesus. We are so thrilled that you have made this decision, and we want to be part of helping you get to know God better. There are many simple yet extremely important things you need to know now that you are a believer, and we want to e-mail you some free information that will help you. Please take a moment to let us know of your decision so that we can send you this information right away. We will protect your privacy and will not share your e-mail address or other personal information with others, and you will not be placed on a mailing list.

You choose? - 08-24-07, 07:03 AM

Its not just enough to choose without knowing what you are choosing. ie accepting Jesus as your lord and savour means following Jesus.

So moving on, we have accepted Jesus and are now trying to follow. Already saved,But yet even those who are saved can fall. ( I beleave they are still saved as long as they have not denied Jesus as lord and savour) But its tougher to get back on track again. Many may even question: Was I truely saved to begin with?

I could not understand why God could love one such as me. It pains me even to mention it. I asked the question: Am I still saved? I then read about the blind man who asked Jesus to make him see. Jesus said: It is your faith that has healed you.

I know that Jesus is my Lord and savour regardless of what happens down the road, Jesus is still the same. This is comforting to know :-) That does not give me a pass to hop of the path though!

I have tried trying to folow by not following. Its not possible!
You know, Live the good life. Use Jesus when things get tough.
I like to think: It should not be I who uses Jesus, But Jesus who uses me!

I know I am a Christian because He drew me to Himself and I accepted His invitation 24 years ago. With that invitation came a love for His Word which I have nurtured every day and will contine to nurture until He calls me home. I'm not interested in doing just enough to get in. I'm running the race full steam to the best of my ability.

Hi again

Good reply. Us humans are subject to sin. Running full steem is better than doing just enough

Just one teensy weensy little question:
What do you beleave you need to do in order to get in?

Re: Meet Jesus - 08-27-07, 12:10 AM

"For it is by grace you are savedthrough faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not of works, so no one can boast. For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." (Eph 2:8-10)

Salvation is not quantifiable. Its not like exams at school whereby if you score well enough, you are promoted to heaven. To be saved is to be a Christian. To be a Christian is to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. To be a disciple of Jesus is to commit to a life of loving him and receiving his love and growing spiritually and spreading the Good News about him (the Gospel).

Amen,
Whosoever believeth in the Son , will meet with the Father.
Thank you for this word. To be reminded of the Saviour is good food for the soul.
My Mediator is Jesus , who walked the earth in the flesh , and knew what it was like to be tempted , however Jesus knew how to resist the devil because he was obedient to the Father.
He aIso knew the scriptures, I pray that we seek clarity through the Holy Spirit by researching the scriptures , I pray and certainly want to remain obedient to the Word and the Spirit.
For the word of God is Active and Alive, it is a double edged sword penetrating to dividing the body, soul joints and marrow.
Nothing is hidden from Gods sight. Heb4:12

Please pray for me and my son who was diagnosed with a terrible disease Schitzophrenia. Pray for a miracle, i know that faith connects us to miracles.

Thank you for this thread. I was truly saved 3 years ago. It was amazing how my life seemed to change over night. I felt the Holy Spirit living through me. I deeply felt every prayer I prayed. I prayed or actually carried on a non-stop conversation with my Father all day and into my dreams. I really felt everything deeply into my soul.

At the time I was saved, I was taking care of my mother and my family (husband, 2 kids, and myself) were living with her since she needed constant care. About a year after I was saved, my mother fell very ill and was sick for quite a long time. During that time, I was unable to leave her even to go to Church. I tried to keep up with it by watching sermons online, but the demand of caring for my mother became very trying and time consuming. I would fall into bed late at night and be asleep before my head hit the pillow and would rise w/ the sun to start caring for her. Non-stop constant care left little time for Bible reading and much on my mind pushed those constant conversations with God out.

During that time, I stopped allowing the Holy Spirit to teach me and stopped allowing Jesus to lead me. I have since stopped feeling. I feel happy, sad, angry... But these feelings stop short of going to my soul. I have worried that my prayers have lacked the feeling needed to be powerful. I've felt that I wasn't giving God enough of me in my prayers. I have been struggling to find my way back to God and to turning my life back over to Jesus. I am lost. I know I'm saved. Once saved, always saved. I have not denied God nor the sacrifice of Jesus. The fear that my prayers were not good enough for God has troubled me for quite some time. Finally, God has answered these fears to my heart.

This is the message that God has recently given to me. i have been going through a season of non-feeling. I can't feel anything. I continue to pray but have been wondering if my prayers have any power anymore since I can't add sincere feeling to my requests. God has shown me the following message which has begun to return the feelings to my prayers and renewed my faith in the power of prayer.

We need to pray because it is a beautiful offering to God even if we don't feel that our prayers are worthy of His love. It's just like when your child makes something at school and brings it home to you. The child may not be happy with how the art turned out and may see the faults in it, but you as the parent think it is the most beautiful thing anyone has ever given you. You know that your child has created something just for you and has put everything he/she has into creating that art.

The same is true when it comes to giving gifts to our Father. We put everything we have into our prayers and may still feel like they are not worthy of God. But God receives those prayers (though they may be lacking something that you may not be able to give - like feeling). When God receives those prayers, He sees them as the most beautiful gift you can give Him. He puts those prayers on His refrigerator so that He can see them all the time. He feels overwhelming love for you because you gave Him all you had to give in those little prayers.

I think this is the most amazing message I have ever received from my Father and I am most grateful. Thank You God!!!

Amazing Grace - 05-31-11, 12:02 PM

Who is this Jesus-
He is all that the Prophet Isaiah prophesied in Isaiah 9: 6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
John 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
John 10;9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
Commitment in Christ Jesus Galations 2;20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
Jesus is Lord and he is a God of Love - and i pray that He gives us His attributes which is - Galations 5 22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
24And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.
25If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
Thanks for this awesome sight where we learn so much from one another God bless.
