Any ideas for a dessert that doesn't involve alot of sugar - 01-22-07, 03:14 PM

I'm trying to cut down on my sugar. Because I'm a super sugar addict I love it almost more than food. Which is not so good so I'm trying to take a break. So it would be great to know a healthy dessert that does'nt involve alot of sugar. Help??

Well, there are sugar free recipes- I need to use those for my mom, as she is diabetic. Have you tried fresh fruit, you can always use splenda as a substitute for sugar. It tastes the same, but has no sugar at all

howdy, can you do a search online? i use the yahoo search engine, some people prefer the google search. just type in what you are looking for and lots of sites come up with recipes of all sorts, and of course there will be some come up trying to get you to buy there stuff, but it's not necessary to buy recipes because there are tons of others totally free, all you have to do is to search through them to find what you are hungry for. ... Say you are hungry for low sugar brownies, just type that into the search engine like this > low sugar brownie recipe < and see what all comes up.

but if you really want to get the sugar out of your system and start fresh, do what a hospital told me to do several years back, and it worked for me. i used to be eating sugar stuff way too much, i can type their plan here and anyone can try it, i had been hospitalized for stomach trouble, they said i had to get off of seasonings and sweets fast !

The Plan ; for the whole first month cut out all seasonings ( salt, pepper, everything ) including all sugars, all flour products, all breads, all meats, all caffeine ( including tea, coffee, soda's - coke's ) , all milk products, all animal products, no juices because they have syrups / sugar.

Then ; what you are allowed to have is Water , Fresh Raw Veggies, Fresh Raw Fruit, for some seasoning for salads you may squeeze the juice of a lemon,

Then after the first month ; you may add one serving of meat per day but must alternate, tuna, chicken, ( light meats) being used most often, only one red meat per week.; and of course with the meats you start adding seasonings again. And you may start adding stuff like low fat Milk, small amounts of cheese per week. And as for breads, only add one bread per meal.

the idea is to slowly start adding stuff back to your regular eating habits, but to leave out all the stuff that is not good to eat, like the sugar.

and when you get hungry for something sweet, you can find many fruits that have their own natural sugar, which is not bad for you BUT all must be done in moderation.

you can use a diabetic diet for a guideline as for what to eat.

it may sound impossible, but if you just take it one day at a time you can do it, i did, and if i can anyone can.

:) hope some of this helps some one.

Sugar free Jello - 01-31-07, 04:19 PM

I'm on a diet so I eat a lot of sugar free jello. I eat the whole box and its only 40 calories. It gives me that filled up feeling too so I don't eat more dangerous foods. David
