Our Purpose: to show you the love of Jesus Christ, His promises of
Salvation & Blessings and to spread the Good News to the ends of the
Earth [Mark 16:15]. We're also here to edify the church
[Ephesians 4:11-12].
I would like to request prayer from any who are willing, that the Lord would arrange matters so that I can attend nursing school this September.
With His assistance and grace, I have passed the entrance exam with the highest score possible, and against all odds, I have received enough in grants, a student loan and creative financing to cover my tuition. My husband and I prayed for this and are just thrilled. (Even my books and uniforms got covered! Praise the Lord!)
Now there seems to be a big block in our plans. My husband is in real estate and while there are plenty of housing sales these days, it seems the banks and mortgage companies are jamming up the works so the closings are delayed and delayed and delayed.
If you could pray that the Lord would free up our finances and remove the obstacles from my husband's real estate closings (i.e. our paychecks coming in!), so that I could attend nursing school this fall, I would greatly appreciate it. I have a part time job right now and if his deals don't start closing I will not be able to quit my job to attend school (it's required that I go to school full time and students are not allowed to work because the program is so intensive).
Being a nurse has been a desire of my heart my whole life, but I've never had the opportunity to realize it until now. It is not something I can put off. If I don't do it now, I never will as I'm in my 50s. We have been so happy and rejoicing in the Lord's goodness as prayers were answered regarding the testing, my interviews with the school, my GPA/transcripts being good enough, my essay, and especially the financing. I've been accepted into the program and am standing firm in faith that the Lord has brought me this far that He will not drop me.
Thank you to those willing to pray that my husband will have enough closings so that I can quit working for 1 year to go to nursing school starting this September.
Thank you and God Bless you!
Financial Aid Dept. had me come in today. It seems there was an over estimation in our income level last year when they did the initial paperwork, and they discovered that I qualify for the highest amount possible on my Pell Grant! Praise God for His goodness!
My husband discovered a hidden snag today that has been delaying one of his closings. Now he's been able to get the wheels in motion to get that snag smoothed out and move closer to a closing. We are thanking the Lord for revealing the hidden problem!
We are still standing in faith for answer to the prayer that I be able to stop working for the next year to complete nursing school and that my hubby's real estate deals would close (no closings scheduled yet but plenty in the pipeline).
We have much to be thankful for. I had to take my hubby to the ER with dizzy spells every 1-3 minutes, some uncontrolled jerking of the eyes and bad headache. Our doctor worried about an aneurysm, but the CT scan showed no tumor or aneurysm PRAISE THE LORD!!!! Tomorrow we go to the doctor for a follow up. He's getting much better so we are expecting a good report! Prayers for my sweetheart would be appreciated as well.
My Husband: My husband's doctor appointment we uneventful today in that the doctor can't figure out what is wrong. They have put him on a prescription for the next week. If he has any more symptoms after that he will have to go in for an MRI.
Nursing School: My husband and I will be prayerfully making our final decision tonight as to whether or not I should go forward. I received confirmation from the govt. today that the grants and student loan have been approved, and my drug screening and finger printing have been scheduled for within the week. If I am not going to be able to go forward I feel I should not take the drug screening or finger printing with background check because the school pays for that and it just wouldn't be right to have them pay for it and then back out (or they might end up billing me for it!).
Continued prayer for my husband's health and for us to be able to swing me taking a year off for school would be appreciated, as well as for guidance in our decision making tonight.
hi Alabaster, thanks for updating on the situation - have just prayed for you and your husband. God is good - that's great news about your financial aid. May God bless you both.
My husband and I spoke tonight. He said that he is feeling very strongly that I should take the nursing program. He surprised me with the news that he had an interview today for a side job! It looks very promising and will cover the financial difference of me leaving my job for school in the fall with a bit of extra money to spare for gas and incidentals! They did not make their final decision, but it looks quite promising. We are believing for this job and after praying about it, we both feel that we should step out in faith and send me to nursing school.
Thank you so much for your prayers Halva. I treasure them! I feel the peace of the Lord this evening with the decision now made, and I feel a calm assurance from the Lord about my husband's health. God is so GOOD!
My husband's health is doing great! No seizures and he's off medication, Praise the Lord!
Nursing school plans are clipping right along. :)
One BIG fly in the ointment: My hubby has still not had a closing. This means he hasn't had a paycheck in 2 months. So much red tape has been blocking the way. If anyone willing would pray that his closings would get scheduled next week, it would be greatly appreciated. We're completely out of money, have no gas for the cars and food is tight. Tomorrow I'm going to the local jewelers and sell the bracelet my husband gave me as a wedding gift. Gotta do what you gotta do, you know?
