Hi All,

I know that there are so many other people out there with more urgent needs, but I would really appreciate any prayer (and constructive criticism) on this.

I'm a 27 year old, white, school teacher with a upper middle class background. I'm also trying to begin a Christian Rap/Hip hop project. No there is no punch line...this is for real. (I only mention my race/background as showing contrast to the typical hip hop artist background, not to say that only people from my background are incapable or anything like that.)

I am having trouble with my confidence in making this music. It's not that I think I can't make the music, but I guess I worry about how other people will see me once I start putting music out there. I have grown up with music as a big part of my life (playing instruments and singing). Hip hop became a big part of my life, and since being saved 3 years ago I have started listening pretty much to ONLY christian hip hop. I feel an AMAZING passion for the genre and for being able to synthesize my experiences with scripture, doctrine and today's culture to make music to bring people to Christ and to glorify Him.

I am also struggling with my PRIDE in this. I want to glorify God, yet simultaneously I feel a part of myself wanting success/attention and I KNOW that I must battle that as motivation.

So bottom line, prayer for confidence, support and humility in this project. I have started a project called "The Great Omission" which is a song discussing how spreading the gospel has been stifled in peoples lives (I feel conviction about this as i am sure some of you out there do as well) and it is also acting as a bit of a step by step guide as to how to talk to people about the gospel. Let me know if you would like to hear it when it gets finished.

I'll pray for you to have enough confidence to sing but maybe you need to start with small groups like at your school and they will think that your the coolest teacher. If they dont you are the coolest teacher because God made you and gave you the talent of singing. God be with You
