When did Satan first Sin?

Active
Man can sin in two ways. One, by doing something God says “NOT to do”, and second by NOT doing what God says “to do”

Gen 3:11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat?

Jas 4:17
So any person who knows what is right to do but does not do it, to him it is sin.

What was Adam's job? God told Adam what his job was.

Gen 2:15 And the Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to tend and guard and keep it. (AMP)

Somebody might say Adam's job was supposed to toil the ground and keep the weeds out. But, there was no curse on the earth at that time so there was no need to do any kind of lawn, yard, or garden maintenance.

Adam's job was to “guard and protect the garden” Adam had authority over all of the works of God's hands including angels!

Who allowed the serpent into the garden? Did Adam sin by NOT doing what God told him to do?

The serpent was Satan's disguise to get into the Garden, and no doubt the serpent was a willing participant, because God also punished the serpent.

Adam had no control of that, just as he had no control over Eve being deceived. That's assuming he was not there, and I don't believe he was.

The only sin I see Adam committing was to go along with the sin by also eating of the forbidden fruit.

Gen 3:6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.

Gen 3:6 So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.

The scholars say, what is the timeline of her eating and giving to him? If Adam had been there, then he to would have been deceived. But we know he wasn't deceived. It is possible he was there and just went along with the program, pleasing his wife.

They also say, as I remember, Adam ate out of unbelief that God would do what He said.

This is a common problem for the Bible student throughout the Scripture, so many times we just don't have enough of information to make the correct call.

I agree they are not the same Garden. It is believed "Eden the Garden of God" was on this earth before Adam and Eve and Satan ruled the earth, having been given dominion over the earth. How long before Adam and Eve we don't know. When he rebelled against God we don't know.

It seems that God took the dominion of this earth from Satan when he fell and later gave it to man. The gap in time is unknown.

Gen 2:10; Now a river flowed out of Eden to water the garden; and from there it divided and became four rivers.
Gen 2:11; The name of the first is Pishon; it flows around the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold.
Gen 2:12; The gold of that land is good; the bdellium and the onyx stone are there.
Gen 2:13; The name of the second river is Gihon; it flows around the whole land of Cush.
Gen 2:14; The name of the third river is Tigris; it flows east of Assyria. And the fourth river is the Euphrates.
Gen 2:15; Then the LORD God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it.

We know where two of these rivers are even today. They dump into the Persian Gulf. The Gihon and Pishon are unknown, are perhaps re-named.

As far as Satan falling in the "gap theory". There is yet another option. We don't know how long Adam and Eve were on the Earth before they sinned, it could have been decades.
Yet another theory says Adam and Eve didn't start aging until they sinned. So, they could have been on the Earth thousands of years.

Gen 5:2; He created them male and female, and He blessed them and named them Man in the day when they were created.
Gen 5:3; When Adam had lived one hundred and thirty years, he became the father of a son in his own likeness, according to his image, and named him Seth.
Gen 5:4; Then the days of Adam after he became the father of Seth were eight hundred years, and he had other sons and daughters.
Gen 5:5; So all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years, and he died.

Rev 12:7; And there was war in heaven, Michael and his angels waging war with the dragon. The dragon and his angels waged war,
Rev 12:8; and they were not strong enough, and there was no longer a place found for them in heaven.
Rev 12:9; And the great dragon was thrown down, the serpent of old who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.

Luke 10:18; And He said to them, "I was watching Satan fall from heaven like lightning.

How long did this war in heaven last? Eventually Satan and his angels were overcome, Satan was cast out of heaven, but apparently was still allowed to visit from time to time.

Job 1:6; Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan also came among them.
Job 1:7; The LORD said to Satan, "From where do you come?" Then Satan answered the LORD and said, "From roaming about on the earth and walking around on it."

Yet another theory says Job was alive when Adam was still alive. Perhaps Satan wasn't kicked out of heaven yet.

We can only use what is given in scripture and not speculate on what could have been.

If Adam had done what God told him to do in protecting the garden the temptation and destruction of his family would have never happened.
In the New Testament, we are told the same thing as God told Adam.

Eph 4:26 Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:
Eph 4:27 Neither give place to the devil.

Adam gave place to the Devil.

I've read the work of many theologians and scholars through the years, the over whelming majority say that Adam and Eve were on this earth for just a matter of days before sin came into the world. Some give the possibility of a few weeks.

But who knows for sure. They know more than we do, but they are still subject to being wrong. Just not enough info.

The majority also say that in Luke 10, when the 70 returned from having the power over evil spirits given by Christ, vs. 18, "I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven." This is Christ looking into the future seeing this at the mid-point of the Great Tribulation, Rev. 12:9.

He is associating the power they had over evil spirits to the power God has over Satan and his evil angels.

I would disagree with this being the majority. The two largest Protestant denominations in the world do not believe this. But regardless of that....

Rev 12:4; And his tail *swept away a third of the stars of heaven and threw them to the earth. And the dragon stood before the woman who was about to give birth, so that when she gave birth he might devour her child.
Rev 12:5; And she gave birth to a son, a male child, who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron; and her child was caught up to God and to His throne.
Rev 12:6; Then the woman fled into the wilderness where she *had a place prepared by God, so that there she would be nourished for one thousand two hundred and sixty days.
Rev 12:7; And there was war in heaven, Michael and his angels waging war with the dragon. The dragon and his angels waged war,

When did Satan sweep away a third of the stars ( presumably the fallen angels that went with him, this is the only place in the Bible that mentions how many ). Future or past?
The woman who was about to give birth, is presumably Mary ( or Israel as a nation ). Herod killing all the babies in Israel is presumably the dragon "devouring her child".
The woman who was in the wiilderness for 3 1/2 years ( 1,260 days ) was presumably Mary and Joseph fleeing to Egypt.

Matt 2:12; And having been warned by God in a dream not to return to Herod, the magi left for their own country by another way.
Matt 2:13; Now when they had gone, behold, an angel of the Lord *appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, "Get up! Take the Child and His mother and flee to Egypt, and remain there until I tell you; for Herod is going to search for the Child to destroy Him."
Matt 2:14; So Joseph got up and took the Child and His mother while it was still night, and left for Egypt.
Matt 2:15; He remained there until the death of Herod. This was to fulfill what had been spoken by the Lord through the prophet: "OUT OF EGYPT I CALLED MY SON."

So likely this is partially in the past. Unless all these events will happen again in the future. ( Some are divided on the war in heaven, there may be another ).

Matt 2:16; Then when Herod saw that he had been tricked by the magi, he became very enraged, and sent and slew all the male children who were in Bethlehem and all its vicinity, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the magi.
Matt 2:17; Then what had been spoken through Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled:
Matt 2:18; "A VOICE WAS HEARD IN RAMAH, WEEPING AND GREAT MOURNING, RACHEL WEEPING FOR HER CHILDREN; AND SHE REFUSED TO BE COMFORTED, BECAUSE THEY WERE NO MORE."

Everyone has their opinion with their own interpretations, just short on facts from Scripture.

Agreed on that. I just gave 11 scriptures on why this part of Rev 12, was in the past. Do you have any to support these things will happen in the future?

The manchild of vs. 5 are the 144,00, the first fruits of the salvation of "the woman" Israel. This takes place at the mid-point of the GT.

This may be a little long. Sorry

Rom 8:33 WHO SHALL BRING ANY CHARGE AGAINST GOD'S ELECT? It is God who justifies.

The answer to this question is, “NO ONE” There is no one who can accuse God's elect (the Church) before God in his presence!!!

There was a time in which Satan did have access to God to be able to accuse God's people, but when Jesus died on the cross and arose from the dead those days are long gone!!

When “Lucifer” was created he had access to God's throne until “SIN” was found in him, and he was cast OUT from God's presence and cast DOWN to the earth!!! (Eze 28:14-18) If this is true, and it is, then how did Satan regain access to God to be able to accuse man before God's presence? We find in the book of Job that Satan did have access to God's throne. (Job 1:6)

When Adam sinned in the garden, all of his (Adam's) rights, authority, power, and the ability to commune in the presence of God were given over to Satan. This is exactly how Satan REGAINED access to God's presence after being cast out when sin was found in him in the beginning!!

When Jesus was being tempted, Satan said this.....

Luke 4:6 And he said to Him, To You I will give ALL THIS POWER AND AUTHORITY AND THEIR GLORY (all their magnificence, excellence, preeminence, dignity, and grace), FOR IT HAS BEEN TURNED OVER TO ME, and I give it to whomever I will. (AMP)

Satan now had more power then he did before being the anointed Cherub as he was now wielding Adams's authority!!!

From the time of Adam's sin up to the death of Jesus, Satan had free access to God to accuse man of being a sinner based on God's own laws!! Just prior to Jesus being arrested Jesus said this.....

John 12:31 Now the judgment (crisis) of this world is coming on [sentence is now being passed on this world]. NOW THE RULER (EVIL GENIUS, PRINCE) OF THIS WORLD SHALL BE CAST OUT (EXPELLED). (AMP)

Satan's ability to accuse man before God in his presence was about to come to an end at the death, and resurrection of Jesus from the dead!!
When Jesus had given the “seventy” power over devils, Jesus said this.....

Luke 10:17 The seventy returned with joy, saying, Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name!
Luke 10:18 And He said to them, I SAW SATAN FALLING LIKE A LIGHTNING [FLASH] FROM HEAVEN.

For anyone to have access to the throne of God, that requires spiritual laws that govern God's Kingdom. The Word of God gives us these laws. Satan's ability to continue his accusations before God required spiritual laws that would give him this right. Satan's main weapon he had against sinful man was the Word of God!!! We know this is true because of this scripture........

1Cor 15:55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?
1Cor 15:56 The sting of death is sin; and THE STRENGTH OF SIN IS THE LAW.

The “LAW” which came from the Word of God is what gives “SIN” it's strength!!!!!!!

If we want to get rid of the accuser (Satan) then the “LAW” must be fulfilled leaving man free from its accusations which Satan used to accuse man before God!! This scripture tells us that.....

Col 2:13 And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses,
Col 2:14 BY CANCELING THE RECORD OF DEBT THAT STOOD AGAINST US WITH ITS LEGAL DEMANDS. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.
Col 2:15 HE DISARMED THE RULERS AND AUTHORITIES and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them in him. (ESV)

By Jesus fulfilling the LAW which we were bound to, he (Jesus) DISARMED the rulers and authorities who used it to bring condemnation to God's people.

Satan has no legal right standing or ability to come into God's presence anymore because he has been “DISARMED” from using legal law to accuse man.
No accuser has any legal rights in the presence of God if he has no law to base his accusations on!!!!

Man now has free access to the Lord God through faith in Jesus Christ being justified by the “LAW” of faith, without the works of the law. (Roman 3:27)

Well, Curtis, I don't want to argue this. But I have to point out Rev. 12:10 which is yet to come.

"And I heard a loud voice saying in Heaven, “Now have come salvation and strength, and the Kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ; for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, who accused them before our God day and night."

Satan is still accusing the Brethren before God right up to the point he's thrown out which begins the last 3 1/2 years of the Great Tribulation.

Satan's SIN is at: Ezek 29:8 Chronology not given. Probably before the Adamic Creation took place.

Adam's SIN was Rebellion against God, and siding with satan against Him. Not a bright career move.

When did Satan first sin?

What difference does it really make?
Does knowing this or beating each other with verses bring y'all any closer to God?
No, it just moves one further away.
Y'all will never be doers of the Word, when you can't be hearers of it; continuing to debate and arguing to be the one that's right, which the Word plainly says do not do it.
Now, continue on with your fleshly sins.
