Names of all first-hand testimonies on Jesus?

Member
Quick question:

I want to read -all- first-hand testimonies on Jesus. What are they all called?

((I was going to post this in the bible study forum but couldn't due to "insufficient forum clearance", so I'll post it here instead))

Edit: I'm note sure if 'testimony' is the right word. To clarify; what I mean with 'first-hand testimonies on Jesus' is 'the written down accounts about Jesus by those who were with him first-hand'.

Sebastian, it seems to me testimony is a good word! 1 John 1 starts out - (hopefully memory serves, but please check up on me...) "Something which has existed since the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our own eyes, which we have watched and touched with our own hands, the word of life, this is our theme. That life was made visible, we saw it and are giving our testimony, declaring to you all that we have seen and heard so that you too might share our life."

I would highly recommend starting in the Gospel of John. The books that quote Jesus and are about just his life and ministry are called the Gospels, literally the "good news". Blessings on your reading!!!! I am super blessed by this question!

Hello Sebastian.

Welcome to Talk Jesus.

You asked the following.

I want to read -all- first-hand testimonies on Jesus. What are they all called?

The first hand accounts of the life and teaching of Jesus Christ are referred to as the Gospels.

The word 'Gospel' means the good news. In the New Testament the first four letters are called
the Gospels. These Gospels have the titles, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. I would recommend
the Gospel of Luke as a good letter to start with.

Any questions you may have, feel free to ask Sebastian.
