I can't vote based upon the given information. Depending upon which church you called devil worshipers you may have been correct in your assessment. Much of what we see today that passes for Christianity and the work of the Holy Spirit on earth is of the devil. It is as the scriptures say, that in these last days many have departed from the faith (actually following Jesus) and follow seducing spirits and doctrines of devils (Jesus paid it all just believe as obedience isn't required, for example). Considering that it has been 2000 years since Christ came, Satan has had a lot of time to deceive many in many different ways.

Rather than worry about whether you have committed this heinous sin, I suggest you ask yourself a couple other questions.

1. Has God the Father revealed to your heart that Jesus is his Son and is the righteousness of God manifest in the flesh? The true light that there is no darkness in?

2. Did you receive that as truth?

3. Do your works (the things you do everyday) reflect that belief in honesty by a hard pressed striving to get to know the living God and Jesus Christ whom he has sent? Desiring above all things to be molded into the image of Christ?

If you answered, Yes, Yes and Yes then I wouldn't really worry about what happened with the church thing as one who answers yes to all three has an advocate with the Father in Heaven, Jesus Christ the righteous, who bought all mankind with his shed blood upon the tree.

May God the Father bless you and settle your heart on this issue that you might be able to serve him without distraction.

Gary

No.

When a person is truely "Born Again" , as jesus said: "Born of the Spirit" you recieve the Holy Spirit in you as promised.

Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is Apostacy, all out rejection of Jesus Christ and not recieving the gift of the Holy Spirit!

That is why the Bible teaches that all will be forgiven except Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit.

" I'll see you here or I will see you up there or I will see you in the air"!.....Beam me up , Lord!

I won't give you my opinion but I sure can give
you what God's word says on the matter.

Quote:
The Pharisees had so firmly set their hearts against accepting Jesus as the Messiah that they rejected the obvious truth before them and perversely twisted it to influence the crowds. They publicly credited the most ultimately evil being in the universe with these precious, godly miracles. In other words, they called the precious and holy Spirit of God, the unclean spirit of Satan. In effect, they charged Jesus Christ with sorcery; one who is in league with Satan. These charges are not only appalling and extremely serious, but clearly absurd. As Jesus immediately responded,
"How can Satan cast out Satan? If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. And if a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. And if Satan has risen up against himself, and is divided, he cannot stand, but has an end. No one can enter a strong man's house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man. And then he will plunder his house" (Mark 3:23-27; also see Luke 11:14-23).
Did you know that Paul, who wrote many of the books
in the NT, killed those who were Christians? But upon
receiving Jesus in His life, He changed dramatically.
He is a new creation. And so are you. Don't worry
my friend. Jesus has forgiven all you have done and
ever will do.

Jesus: “Yes I am with you always, until the very end of time”

I once was paranoid and majorly stressed out that I had committed it too. But, that is the clearest indication that you haven't! If a person had truly blasphemed the Holy Spirit (which is a gradual process btw) their hearts would be seared with a hot iron, and would feel absolutely no remorse. Anything to do with Jesus and righteousness would automatically repulse them because God wouldn't be working in their lives. My understanding of the actual unforgivable sin is: continued resistance of the Holy Spirit which leads to a downright rejection with no hopes of coming back.

Think about it like this: the Pharisees has seen amazing miracles performed by Jesus when he would cast out demons with his Holy power. They had this undeniable knowledge of the truth, but instead proceeded to reject this and say he cast out demons by the power of Beelzebub (Satan).

So, don't worry my friend, because your worry about this makes it clear that the Holy Spirit is still convicting your conscience. Rejoice :) - If you want a more elaborate write-up, PM me. God bless!

Well said, I absolutely agree, not much more I could add. Other than the devil will go to great lengths to try convince us that we are outside of God's love, so that we'll feel hopeless and turn away from, instead of running into, the waiting arms of our loving Savior.

Charlie11,
Say that you did know the Lord as your Savior, yet made the statement concerning a church and the people who attend there, not to make light of the situation, but you could have been correct without even knowing it. There are cults that are disguised as churches out there, and are deceiving many, so your statement could have been valid without you even realizing it.

However, keep in mind that just looking at the way you phrased your question, it pretty much sounds like you didn’t know the Lord as you Savior. Meaning whatever you did prior to this has been covered by the Blood of the Lamb.

That you are concerned as others have pointed out here, is a reflection that the Holy Spirit is still working in you, by putting on the new and casting off the old you, you are showing a concern that one who did “Blasphemy the Holy Spirit (Matthew 12:31-32)” would not be feeling or worried about.

I'm sure many believers when made aware of or come across the verses in Matthew and other similar type of verses, have looked in their own lives and wondered the same as you have. Me too.

When in doubt, pray and read the Word. The Holy Spirit can provide you great understanding of Scripture. This sounds like a subject you might research and then start a thread on, thereby helping others who might bring it up in the future, or haven’t wanted to ask.

Yeah, it seems to be quite a common worry of the new Christians starting off their walk with the Lord. I know that I had a couple weeks of extreme agitation and stress over this.

Same here brother. Part of it might be that our desire to doing everything perfectly and start to run in our new found freedom that finding out that there's a possibility of doing something which won't be forgiven opens an avenue by which as you previously stated in your own life. A condition where one can become "paranoid and get majorly stressed out" occurs. This I believe happens, because we've become awakened to what sin is, and can for the first time; see it clearly in the life we lead prior to being born again. We have a tendency to forget that its old history! Not something that is carried over to this new life.

So I will remember to say "Thank-you my Lord" for releasing me from the bondage of sin, into His glorious Life, that includes every believer known and unknown to me! Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!!!

Not saying I’m perfect. But one day brother, one day! That will truly be a WOW day!
