What do I do - 11-20-09, 11:54 PM

I am in an interracial marriage. I have a wonderful husband, two stepchildren and three of my own. I have a battle with how people react to us when we are in public. It is becoming to discourage me to the point that I say, maybe I should not have married him. But I love him. He is everthing that I have ever hoped for and need. I know that we serve a God that does not see color, but how do I deal with a people that do?

While I do not see a thing wrong with your marriage you did have to know that you picked a hard road. Most people (generally out of ignorance and on both sides of the equation ) are uncomfortable with things that are different than themselves.
My thought is this, if you want your marriage to work then you need to be able to deflect these things and not let them come between you and your husband.
WWJD?
First, like Jesus you need to forgive these people as they are acting out of bondage and this is what your Lord would have you do. There is great freedom and healing in forgiveness.
Jesus loved those who talked bad about Himself and even those who acted in a cruel fashion to Himself.
Perhaps this is a chance to grow in your relationship with Jesus Christ as you pray and ask to see those people through His eyes and learn to love the unlovely.
I will be praying for you and your family, may His peace rule and reign in your hearts.
Many blessings in His Name,
your brother Larry.

Psa 62:5 My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.

Seek God! As you are growing and changing in the Lord He will show you how to stand in these times. As you produce the fruit of the Spirit then what others may say or think will not matter as much as they do now. We are going to face many things coming against us in this life with or without God. But you have God and He is all you need to face anything and come out on the other side victorious. Never give up! God bless you.

Erica, God never leaves us alone to handle something that's bigger than us - what he will do is make us bigger through our challenges and help prepare us for something greater. Call upon God, I pray that you find the Holy Spirit to guide you through turbulent times and you need to forget about society and worry about the one you love - the one that completes you - God's blessed you with his presence in your life.

praise God.

matt.
