Hi, I'm new..but you probably already knew that!

New poster here. I'm 25 y/o, female, I live in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas. I was raised in a strict Christian home, but my parents stopped attending church around the time I was in 7th/8th grade. I went many years rejecting God out of pure rebellion, not knowing if there was God, coming to the decision that there was a God-but I didn't want to worship Him since I knew I would have to stop my sinful ways.

I found God in February 2011, for about a year I kept feeling like I needed to find a church and finally submit to God, but I never did. I attended church one week, the next week I randomly decided to try another church down the street from me and that was the day I got saved.

In the days following, I was spiritually transformed. My heart of stone was replaced. I felt a strong desire to stop sinning.

I definitely have ups and down with my struggle of sin. I'm involved in a great church that preaches the gospel and is true to God's word.

One of my biggest struggles right now is learning to be bold for Christ. I want to share Christ with others, I have a hard time talking about this with friends that I had previous to being saved. Prayers and advice is definitely appreciated.

    Welcome aboard tawnde

Good testimony. Exactly what you said can be the most compelling witness of all. The friends themselves will see you as you grow in knowledge & understanding, and your own behavior (difficult at first it can be) will be a reflection of your love for the Lord.

Which means it will especially hard when they might want to do things that previously you would have done, but now won’t. It has happened to many who have friends who don’t know the Lord.

Praying often, and reading the Bible daily will help. Ask God for guidance and the right words to touch those you come into contact with. Opportunities abound, but being scared, shy, you name it, will come to mind on why you don’t. Don’t listen. Ephesians chapter 6 has a good receipt for getting prepared, which is called putting on the Armor of God.

Challenging but always remember you’re never alone! He’s with you always! Plus you have plenty of Brothers & Sisters in Christ Jesus at TJ to pray , listen , cry laugh with!

    G'day tawnde,

    Welcome. : )

A good way to increase your confidence in sharing the good news is to mention God/Jesus in your everyday conversations. If someone mentions the weather say "thank God it's a beautiful day" or "thank God it isn't hailing etc". If someone is struggling with something tell them they should speak with Jesus about it etc. Try to use biblical examples to compare everyday situations eg. if a friend is having trouble conceiving tell her the story of Hannah and Samuel.

The more you mention Jesus the more opportunity will come to witness for Him.

    Welcome to TalkJesus sis.

    I heard some say this:
Preach the gospel always; if necessary, use words.

Let our deeds preach the gospel. Our life that we live will be a light unto them that are in darkness, cause our life is not ours but Jesus Himself. We are dead but it is Christ that lives in us.

Praise the name of Jesus, by which name you are saved.
