The word of God tells us that before Lucifer was cast down he was such a beautiful angel that he had pipes in his sides and his whole pourpose was to hover above the throne of God and play worship music ...after he was cast dwn he preverted that gift.. if youl look at LED ZEPPLIN album cover with the angel outsterched ( I dont rember he actual album name ) it looks as though the angel is in triumph pose...This is what he Lord has shown me. A lot of the music today is controling to the spirit like it was meant to be but in the perversion of his gift Satan uses it like a pied piper to lure some into his dark realm..not all music is of God but i beleve that when we make a joyful noise to the throne of God He knows it by the condition of our heart during worship...ive thrown off a lot of music that im convicted of listening to...but my mind and spirit are better for it..REV
I think that it does not matter if you play a loud guitar or a flute, what matters is the actual lyrics of the song being sung! You can put evil words with a loud metal sounding band just as easily as you can with an orchestra or a harmonica!
I do understand when people give up secular music and chose to only listen to Christian music. I done it before.
I do listen to many genre of music, from loud guitars to Native American flutes! I guess bottom line...pray about it. We all are different, so if something hinders us from God, then it is something we do not need in our lives!
BTW Rev...I think my husband has that that record you are talking about from Led Zepplin....along with everything else that came out in the 70's..LOL...and it is interesting looking at the album covers and what they mean and all.
they didint call that era sex drugs and rock and roll for nothing ...what i remeber of it that is ...lol ,its was a time when music came to its most destrctive ptentiol ...my dad had a long and elustius carrer in western swing playing for bob wills at 15 ! and on from there . he had the gift of music....i heard a lot that glorified god just giving people peace and joy......but today christian metal makes me wonder if it can be used. but who am i that i shuold question Alimighty God ??? right!

My hubby don't remember much about the 70's either...LOL! I understand about what you mean. The 70's had some very weird music that came out. I guess it depends on what type of music reaches you the most. I admit, that if all Christian music was like country music, I would have to just copy the words so I could enjoy it and leave out the music.

I'm with you on that!! But I think to each his own is the best answer regarding musical tastes. We can glorify God by what's in our hearts and in the lyrics we sing and listen to IMO.
