I've had a few people ask me this question and I have answered them with scripture but wanted to know what everybody else thought and if anybody else has been asked this question.

Yes, a righteous person can die spiritually, if he/she is not careful, in other words the righteous person will go astray.

No man on earth can claim to be righteous, we are saved by God's grace alone, and it is by God's grace (through faith) that we're made good and acceptable in God's eyes. We have all sinned and we have fallen short of God's glory.
