Whey protein is used by most body builders today. It comes in many different forms (i.e. nutrient bars, powder, drinks, shakes etc). Not only can this be used by body builders but it also has benefits for weight loss. Adding whey protein to the diet is a great way to jump-start a weight loss program. Whey protein is a key ingredient in numerous weight loss and meal replacement products and whey protein isolate (with no fat or carbohydrates) is often the preferred choice. Studies have found that individuals who combine diets with leucine rich protein foods, like whey protein, and exercise have more lean muscle tissue and they lose more body fat. As they lose fat their metabolic rate increases and they naturally burn more calories each day. Another way that whey protein helps manage weight is by promoting satiety, or a feeling of fullness. One recent study showed that whey protein was superior to casein, the other protein in cow's milk, in promoting satiety.

The body is able to make non-essential amino acids from other amino acids in the body. However, the body is not able to make essential amino acids and the only way to get them is by eating high quality protein foods. Protein sources that contain all of the essential amino acids are called complete proteins. Whey protein is a naturally complete protein.

You can pick up Whey protein from your local stores including WalMart at a cost of $15 and it comes in 5lb container (powder form). I take this every morning with breakfast and in the evening after working out. You can find this where all the diet pills, nutrient bars and other weight loss supplements can be found.

I take Muscle milk as my whey protein and I also really like Cyto Gainer as I'm a fairly thin guy with a fast metabolism it really help me push through gaining that 10-12 pounds. The weight gainer worked a lot better for me and my personal needs then anything I got at wally world.

Yes I have heard of that stuff. How does it work? I mean I really can not use that stuff myself because I'm 5'9 and weigh 198lbs but it's solid muscle. When I'm not at Church or having fellowship at homes. I'm in the gym every other night or I'm boxing in the ring.

They both work great, yea I'd say that you probably don't need to worry about gaining a whole lot of weight, I'm a differant story 6'1" and trying hard top stay above 180. Cyto gainer worked great for me helped me stack on about 8 extra pounds, Muscle milk is a pretty good plain whey protien, I think it's like 96% digestabl. Good stuff if you can find a place that sells them other then GNC do it it's much much cheaper.

Muscle Milk also tastes better than most other whey proteins. I have used it for several years now. I went from 225 to 205 by putting into my diet, good stuff indeed!
