Hi All.

This questions comes up a lot and i'm still not sure of the answer. But can we lose our salvation?. I've read scripures saying that all we need to do is confess with our mouths that Jesus is our saviour etc and we will then have eternal life but then i read about God punishing others like King david for his sins.
I have had a few struggles with commiting the same sin over and over and i really do repent and do the 180 but i then fall back into sin again. I love Jesus, and i do hate disappointing God and myself. But it always raises the question can you lose your salvation??...
Thanks in advance.. GOD BLESS

Hello Shell84,

I am new on this Forum-just signed up 2 Days ago! Was browsing through it, and came across this/your Topic/Post and your Question, I quote:" Once saved can we lose our salvation?? ", which in my humble opinion is one of the most important Questions a Believer can ask! I have asked myself this Question many a Times, and currently doing some studying and research on it, and while Browsing through the Forum I came across another Thread on this, which is found in Forum Bible Study Hall under Normal Threads called "Once Saved always Saved?/Is Eternal Security Biblical?". Read through it, and it seems to be a very lively Discussion on this subject, and the Thread is still active.

Best you check it out yourself!

U lose ur salvation when u stop trying. When u quit ur salvation does as well. The righteous man falls down 7 times but gets up again.

can you lose your salvation.

It is by Grace through faith that You have been saved. It is a gift from GOD. It is not through works. It is not by works or failures. We are all sinners... and sinners sin. When we are Saved we are sealed with the HOLY SPIRIT and GOD becomes our loving FATHER. I have failed my dad more times than I can count but, I am still His son and, GOD is still our DADDY, ABBA, FATHER. Its the HOLY SPIRIT inside of you that convicts or makes us feel guilty for our sin. The only unforgivable sin is blasphemy against the HOLY SPIRIT who has sealed each believer until the day of redemption. JESUS even said all those that come to ME I will not cast out. We all lose our battles against sin, all of us, over and over and over. That is one of satans tools against us if we are defeated and think we have lost our Salvation how can we be a witness to others. JESUS Blood covers all our sin and, all sin that is confessed is forgotten by GOD and not remembered any more. In HIS Love always. ken :shade:

yes but please be sure to mention that gift can be lost. salvation isnt a stamp that gets us into heaven it is a lifestyle. Paul said that even though we are saved by grace does that mean we are to walk in sin? by NO means. so yes salvation is a gift from God but we must be careful to accept it always.

But Peter said;
Blessed [be] the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Losing salvation. can you lose it?

I am not a scholar but, from my own personal reading and understanding you can't just lose your Salvation. JESUS paid for ALL our sin. Would anyone say HE didn't know about our sin when HE saved us? Does HE know what sins we will commit in the future ? HE knew and still knows. HE has our hairs counted. BUT, just because we are free from sin does not mean we are to willingly continue in that sin. We are to live Holy or at least do our best every day and, then we confess our sin as we go. HE knows we will fail. HE loves us when we fail. HE loves us after we fail. JESUS Hates sin but loves the sinner just as we should do. I do however believe that we can lose any and all of our rewards. All believers will be judged according to their works and their works can all be burned up and consumed. The Believer however in not consumed but, passes through the fire. Some of us will get to Heaven smelling like smoke and fire but, we still get there. We may not have anything to give to Our SAVIOUR JESUS but, we still get to be with HIM. Thank YOU JESUS!!!

a last note on the subject; Paul said we are all to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling... If my sin can keep me from heaven then I have no hope at all. My Only Hope is Jesus. We all sin and our only Hope is JESUS and our faith in HIM.

if you keep sinning you are powerless and worse useless and the enemy has made you useless, because you can't tell anyone how to get FREE.
so
I WILL DISAGREE with you!

WHAT DO YOU DO WITH THE PARABLE OF THE 10 VIRGINS.. IT WASN'T 5 street walkers and certainly not 10 hookers .
or
PARABLE OF THE TALENTS, God got his coin back, was the man saved? his coin/deposit / down payment was saved though .. oh but he was afraid and was a coward soi he just went and hid his life in the darkness of his own yard.
he was given life and He created no MORE life with the deposit he was given.. so who gets into the new Jerusalem in rev? sorry ! cowards do not get in.. cowards do not "overcome" anything. even ones who got a eternal 'life' deposits.

and what about the ones who " cast out demons in his name" they sure thought they crossed all the T's right and dotted all the I's on that contract too.. and said all the right prayers, but he sure does turn them away ..

or the parables of the seeds cast on good and bad soils..and about and the weeds and hard soil and the birds and such, you aren't saved by saying a prayer .. but only by the kingdom taking root in your being ! very deep roots!

so if there was no fruit of the marriage was there is marriage? two people going to the same building once a week does not a marriage make.

or what about the laws, like harvest laws of like 30, 60 and 100 fold.
if the enemy keeps you reaping only 30 fold because the father can't give you higher % because most of your crop is bad fruits/seeds and by his grace to you, you can only get 30 % bad seed crops that you have sown .. at 30 % you are losing ground every harvest at 30 % . it will catch up sooner or later and you wont have a farm and will have to sell it to the highest bidder. but yes 30 % might be better than nothing for short " bad times" but it won't be a life style option. but you all better be striving for more faithfulness than only 30 % good or bad from the crops we all sow.
60 % then you are a least slowing increasing your harvest and your seeds to over winter and to have good food to eat and share and live... this comes when you are more faithful than not faithful .
100? fold crop is when he does it all for you. and He can and will only do this when you aren't reaping giant crops of bad seeds you have sown along with his good seed .
oh yes dear the enemy sure does make you ineffective as a christian because of SIN.. real sin.. not cultural stuff. reaping the consequences of your actions he does not forgive those and consequences sure does stifle a christian .. consequences of sin sure will stop you in your tracts and will make you a ineffective christian.
oh

and what about this verse?
Hebrews 6:6 no one has the right to re-crucify him!
where is that line where there is no more room for repentance anyway ? I hope we never find out. and will the one who is hard as ice from playing with sin and death , do they even try and repent? or maybe they will just demand his forgiveness ?

or maybe they are judging GOD as to what is ' loving' and what a "loving god" would and would won't do.
I suggest all of these might be some very shaky ground they are standing on.

I believe that "who so ever will", does! and if you dont' you didn't mean it to start with.. thus your not saved and were not saved and will not be saved.
We are not a "who so ever will" if we won't and don't .
The deal is make him lord/ husband/ last word in our life.. and that is the only deal He is offering.

Yes you will lose it if you do not stay saved. Paul said of Demas..."Demas hath forsaken me having loved this world"

best parable

is this one where he reaches not only the jews future but into our futures too. a double whopper prophesy.

1 And Jesus answered and spake unto them again by parables, and said,
2 The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son,
3 And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come.
4 Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage.
5 But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise:
6 And the remnant took his servants, and entreated them spitefully, and slew them.
7 But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city.
8 Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy.
9 Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage.
10 So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests.
11 And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment:
12 And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.
13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
14 For many are called, but few are chosen.

so the most worthy servants didn't want to come.. so like we're his last choice to start off with!
You don't get that hum? like he can make with some spit and mud sons of Abraham or David or even Solomon or Moses ..
What does he need us for again?

why because we are so cute or maybe so civilized and evolved ?

So just because we can go to a wedding, and because we have an invitation to a wedding , that doesn't mean we will stay in the wedding ..all are invited, lots will go to the party.. but few are chosen to stay at the party . an invitation doesn't mean you are saved.

Maybe you didn't know but in the olden days so the guest all looked nice.. the very richest kings would provide a nice new matching wedding garment to each guest , to match the color scheme of the wedding.
Now if we do not change into the clean and pure wedding clothing that matches his color scheme.. clothing that He provides for our poor and weak and miserable selves.

If we do not at least make an attempt for a few minutes at being a worthy servants for the king , is it not worse than an insult?
You see there is some conditions.. the conditions are a grateful and obedient heart willing to change our filthy rags for his righteousness making him king of all we do .
If we don't change our clothes and if we go as we are anyway
'because he made us that way" , "he knew how I was when he invited me" and go to the wedding in our own rags even if they are our best rags.. yes it is over!

Eternaly Secure-Yes or No

Greetings,

The issue of "Once Saved-Always Saved" is nothing new amongst Believers and in fact is going on since the Apostolic Age! Lots and lots of Churches split over this one Point of Doctrine, has caused, and still does cause Division.

I am a Christian now for almost 20 Years, and I have not met one single Believer, who with certainty could say "I am Eternally Secure", without the Word "But" at the end of the sentence! That includes also myself!

I do not want to post endless Scriptures here now, but in God`s Word we will find enough evidence that would support "Eternal Security", as there are Scriptures that would support the opposite!

Giving this issue very much thought over the Years, doing lots of studying on this Doctrine, but still I am struggling with being "Eternally Secure"! Fact is, that I always end up with one and the same Question left in my Heart: "If I was not good enough to save myself but by His Grace, what in the World makes me think that I am good enough now do keep myself in this Salvation?"

Abide in Him,az

This is one of the big Questions ! with a simple answer!
The question is? what is salvation?
Salvation is a New Creature [spirit] that CANNOT SIN!
How could this New creature made in the very Image of our LORD JESUS Christ lose salvation if it cannot Sin?

1Jn 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

1Jn 5:18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

1Pe 1:4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,

Now we do live in earthly sin filled bodies that can sin!
So we must repent if we sin in the flesh! Our flesh is not protected ! It can suffer for sin!
Even then God has provided , a way out if we repent! you know it not easy to repent if keep sinning ?
We going to make mistakes and must repent quickly! Of course we can sin in our minds and not remember it!

Jas 5:14 Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
Jas 5:15 And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
not all sickness is caused by sin!

All sicknesses are Not from us sinning!
We live in a world defiled by sin , many different things here are harmful to us!

Php 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Rom 8:37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

1Jn 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

It is always our faith satan attacks!
he tries to plant doubt in our minds!

We get every heavenly thing by Faith!

Rom 2:11 For there is no respect of persons with God.

Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Rom 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Php 3:3 For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.

Just wanted to answer directly from the topic posted.

First off what is a "Christian" to you?

A “Christian” is not a person who has said a prayer, or walked down an aisle, or been raised in a Christian family. While each of these things can be a part of the Christian experience, they are not what “makes” a Christian. A Christian is a person who has, by faith, received and fully trusted in Jesus Christ as the only Savior (John 3:16, Acts 16:31, Ephesians 2:8-9)

The Bible declares that a true Christian will not live a continually immoral lifestyle (1 John 3:6).
"6 No one who abides in him keeps on sinning; no one who keeps on sinning has either seen him or known him."

The Bible declares that anyone who departs the faith is demonstrating that he never truly was a Christian (1 John 2:19).
"19 They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us. But they went out, that it might become plain that they all are not of us."

No, a Christian cannot lose salvation.

Nothing can separate a Christian from God’s love.

Romans 8:38-39

"For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Nothing can remove a Christian from God’s hand.

John 10:28-29

"I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand."

God is both willing and able to guarantee and maintain the salvation He has given us.

Jude 1:24-25

“To Him who is able to keep you from falling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy—to the only God our Savior be glory, majesty, power and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.”

Nice post and good point. It's not a walk like Christ trying to mimic what Jesus did, but rather a walk with Christ, your hand in His.

Exodus 32:24
"And I said unto them, Whosoever hath any gold, let them break it off. So they gave it me: then I cast it into the fire, and there came out this calf."

here in lies the real issue.
why did the israelites build a golden calf at the real god's feet and call that calf by the real god's name, and give the calf the glory for "delivering them"????
why did they do that?
maybe they saw their big chance to run off the real GOD?
Would they( if God had not killed them dead ) still be doing this today?
of course..

why would they do that?
maybe because man likes a tame god or likes his god's tame.. and controllable and predictable , a non scary kinds of god, that man can command with formulas and manipulations that looks mystical .
what we learn from those Israelites is, man likes lap God's!

So who has the real god?
and who has the golden calf?

who is a wheat and tares (sp?)?
who's the sheep and who's the goats?...

we will never know , we can not judge. we can not judge such things I am afraid!

right now I could put up pictures of kinds of goats and sheep and 99% of everyone on the list will get them wrong.
but yes there is golden calfs and tares among us.. we all could bet on that!:secret:

ALL I KNOW FOR SURE IS thank GOD I am NOT GOD , I will let him be god and I'm staying out of big daddy's seat!
I don't have to find every tare, every goat and, every golden calf, I do not have to go on witch hunts, I don't have to keep my eyes on earthly things at all , unless he makes it my business

.. I just have to know who my god is and I have to know his voice, and his ways, and his words and everything else he might let me know about himself .. , if I be right or wrong to men or God I still have to live and die by my choices in this life, and so does everyone else .

loss of salvation?

Here is a very simple reassuring question. What was "eternal" mean? it means FOREVER< not ending!

GODs WORD the BIBLE has the exact words that mean what He wanted to use. Satan wants us to doubt the WORD od GOD. Remember how satan tricked Eve, getting her to doubt what God had said, and it worked.
Read John chapter 10. I am sure you will be more assured of your surrendering to Jesus Christ and being saved for eternity! Praise the Lord!:shade:

very good. but isnt' the real question here being asked ,
can our man of sin, kill our spirit man. they say no.
I think we can kill off our spirit man, assuming the magic prayer gets you one immediately, which is a huge assumption that they make , can our actions and choices kill off our spiritual gift that not yet received, the gift of eternal life. can we kill what we have no recieved yet or do we know exactly when this happened can we kill it with our disobedience to him . I say yes it is possible.

Revelation 3:5
He that overcometh(this is conditional), the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.
( so he can blot out names?) so some are written in at the begining of time and some are blotted out after ?

Revelation 13:8
And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

Revelation 17:8
The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.

Revelation 20:12
And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
no matter what they claim our works and our DO's and Don't are all judged.

Revelation 20:15
And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Revelation 21:27
And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie : but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.( and where does this verse leave Ananas and Saphira?)

Revelation 22:19
And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

He is at least willing to blot out names that he wrote in the book at the beginning of time.. . which only follows that it means it is possible by our choices or his choice to lose what was given.
and so I sure think it is very wise to not try him on that matter , because He has that option. yes it appears He has given fair warning and has reserved the right to" blot out ' names in advance!
