How Strong Is Your Walk With Jesus? - 08-27-08, 11:19 PM

Interesting Question EH!!!

I know most every one's answer, but we will see.

This topic is dear to me because of what i use to do, not as a job simply because I cared. My nic is actually a title given to me because of this post I am about to share.

How do you feel about prostitutes? In the last couple weeks have seen more news reports on stiffer penalties and longer jail sentences for them. Do you think this is okay? Would it make a difference to know the Christian Coalition was in favour of this? Well the Christian Coalition was once know as the Religious Right, what they should go back to, and remove the stain they have left in Jesus' name.
Most people I know either use their services or loathe them with a passion. Many so-called Christians are among the latter (you'll recognize them from the news and at your city council meetings) asking for, no, demanding stiffer penalties or longer jail sentences and labelling others as well as victimizing those that don't believe as they do. It seems funny that every few years scandals rock the Religious Right as well as provincial/state and federal politicians for the use of prostitutes, then the reports and charges laid against members and priests of the mainstream religions for molestation and exploitation. It sounds hypocritical but that’s the world we live in. Well they are all wrong. Let’s first look at the Gospel of Mark 12:31 Love thy neighbour as thyself. So how do you feel about working girls/boys and their profession? Would you reconsider your opinion if I told you that they were victims before they were prostitutes. In fact over 90% were sexually and emotionally assaulted as children and of them nearly 100% had been tormented this way for more than 3 yrs. Jesus had a thought on people who treated children like this, Matthew 18:6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depths of the sea. (This was said immediately after blessing a child the verse before and putting them is very high standing in the Kingdom of God purely based on their innocence). After being victimized this way for so long these children grew up carrying this humiliation, self loathing and hatred for those who victimized them. It became easier just to take the money for that humiliation. The sickest part of this is, they are forced to relive that torment every time they meet with a client. As a result, you now have just an empty shell where a child use to be. Rounding this out, the remainder were brutally raped as young women who didn’t have the victim support they needed to get past this trauma.

So how about now? If using their services is wrong, by forcing them to relive their childhood torment, making these clients as guilty of sexual assault as the creature that molested them in the first place.. Punishing them renders a judgement on them for what they do. This only re-enforces the humiliation of that torment. Which is also wrong. To do nothing is not right either, so what? Well, let’s look at Romans 15:1 & 2; 1-We than that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves. 2-Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification(the act of, to build; each of us being a temple of God; would mean to build each other up, fortifying their soul). Then there is Luke 10:25 > 37. The story of the good Samaritan. Sorry I didn’t type this one out, most I won't. I was told if I put these entries in why should they pull out their bible. Let’s look at how Jesus viewed this subject. In His own words from John 8:7 He that is without sin among you, let him cast the first stone at her. This is from “a woman caught in sin”. After making this statement Jesus stooped down several times and wrote with his finger on the ground. In verse 9, And they which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience went out one by one from the eldest til they were all gone. I believe Jesus wrote down each man’s name and their sins in the ground since we were made from the dirt of the Earth I also believe Jesus did that to indelibly etch those sins on their souls forcing each man there to judge himself first. Matthew 7:1>6 Look at yourself first. So why can we not be Christ-like.

We talk about how humane we are! How perfect we are in Christ! But now how is your walk with Christ? As I said in the opening this is a topic that is personal to me, I use to rescue street kids. When I was doing this, there were times I use to cry myself to sleep at night trying to figure out the level of evil required to utterly destroy an innocent life, to have so much contempt for your own life that it necessary to make someone like you. In addition those who will condemn these people are equally as guilty of victimization because they presume to judge another with no idea of what put them on that corner in the first place. Finally those that ignore the problem, it is none of my business, they are nothing to me. Well, guess what, that complacency is allowing it to continue, unchecked.

What if it was your son or daughter?

Your brother in Christ.

We mistakenly use jails and prisons only for the purpose of housing violators, removing them from the streets for awhile. The churches that are crying out for longer incarceration terms for prostitutes are missing what Jesus would have us do. They would make the problem worse instead of offering solutions that reach out to people trapped in criminal lifestyles.

Studies are showing that many Christians actually believe that following rules will save them and they look down their prideful noses at those who, in their view, are unworthy because they don't appear to be pure like they believe they are.

Sorry about the delay in getting back to you.

The threads and replies I make in Christian chats are based on my life's experiences. Therefore they follow what the disiples where told by Jesus after His ascension, the last 2 verses of Matthew, the Great Commission. They are witnessed writing of having Jesus work in my life. What jiggyfly has critized me for, is for living according to the Laws of God, we have to because Jesus did. What many people confuse this with is living with or under the laws, it means to observe the laws and where the Jews continually got admonished was observing the Laws but not keeping them. Even Paul in his letters drove home was actually living by the laws because if you truly believe, the Laws are written on your heart, so you have to follow your heart if you have Jesus.

"Studies are showing that many Christians actually believe that following rules will save them and they look down their prideful noses at those who, in their view, are unworthy because they don't appear to be pure like they believe they are".

I hope you honestly believe this, your words, because it is absolutely true and why religious people, not Christians are condemning themselves both knowingly and willingly.

This is cool, look at Romans 5:10 For if, when we were enemies (Jews and Gentiles), we were reconciled (in peace with) to God by the death of His Son; much more than being reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.

During his 3 1/2 year Ministry, in the Gospels he lived rigidly by the Laws not to condemn others but raise them up and taught them to actively seek salvation, by following him. That's what it means to be a Christian. We all seek salvation, we cannot do it by hiding under a rock.

Your brother in Christ
