The Sheep know His Voice - 07-26-08, 06:20 PM

I have read in God's Word I believe it was someplace in Psalms it says that Jesus is our shepherd and we are His sheep, the shepherd knows His sheep and the sheep recognize the shepherds voice. How awesome that you heard the voice of God. I believe I have heard God's voice at times in my life. I pray that He is in my thoughts! Through some of the tradgic times in my life I believe when I was on my face crying my heart out to God ( which I call the highest place on earth, on my face at the feet of Jesus ) I believe God has even given me a vision, He picked me up and sat me on the Lap of His Love and was holding me. I could see me on His lap his white robe, I could see His hands, my ear was against His heart, I felt our hearts beating as one, but I could not see a face.
I needed that vision it was so awesome, we had just lost two of our precious children in an auto accident and a few years later our marriage did not survive the loss of our children. I begged my husband to stay in church and counselling with me, we did not need the grief of broken home on top of greif of losing our boys, but my husband listened to everyone else except God, and Godly counselling, I was devestated I found the highest place on earth at the feet of Jesus crying my heart out for God to "Please don't let me get bitter to turn the bitterness within me into something sweet as He turned the water into wine" Then I had that vision I seen God pick me up and set me upon the Lap of His Love and He was holding me. I don't care who thinks I'm crazy! If God had not of gave me such an awesome vision I don't think I could of survived all that heartache and greif. Im a survivor only because of the Love of God! He Loves us so much He has even inscribed our names upon the palms of His hands Isaiah 49:15-16

Isaiah 49:15 Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.
Isaiah 49:16 Behold, I have graven thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me.

This thread has really touched the depth of my heart. I've had a new realisation of the Lord's amazing love. All day I have reflected on His voice. I have wept with utter amazement at the vastness of His love and mercy.

I share this with you, dear readers, not to speak about myself but to exalt His wonderful name.

Throughout the nine years that I continually heard His voice I was an utter backslidden wretch. Most of the time I was unaware of my surroundings due to drugs and alcohol - totally oblivious to the world around me.

However, even when everything around me was a ball of confusion, His lovely voice was always crystal clear - whispering audible words of love into my blurred world. Bible verses, snippets of hymns and most of all the words 'come home'.

Oh how the Lord yearns for His wandering wayward children to return and how gently He pleads. Nine years I ignored that voice. Praise God - He never let me go - but just gently drew me back to the fold.

I took them in my arms. But they did not know I healed them, I led them with cords of a man with bonds of love. And I became as one who lifts the yoke and I bent down and fed them
(Hosea 11: 3 & 4)

Blessed wonderful Lord Jesus thank You that You speak to Your children with words of love, guidance and reassurance. May we ever be receptive to that beautiful sweet voice. Thank You Jesus.

God bless you sister for this thread which has truly made me realise more than ever before how beautiful and amazing the voice of Jesus is.

Julia

This is so beautiful, you nearly brought me to tears. Had it taken Him your entire life to whisper "come back to Me", He would have never given up, friend.

His love is so overwhelming, isin't it? It's like He's too good to be true...yet He IS true.

Thank you for sharing your story.

Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, thou that leadest Joseph like a flock; thou that dwellest between the cherubims, shine forth.

Psalm 80:1

The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

Psalm 23

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.

But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.

To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.

And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.

And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.

This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them.
Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.
All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.
I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.

But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.
The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.

I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.

As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.

And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.
Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.

No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself.

I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again.

This commandment have I received of my Father.

How amazing! Thank you for sharing.

The first time I "heard" the Lord speaking to me was when I was first saved and I was reading the scriptures and trying to comprehend them. I came across "I have loved you with an everlasting love..." I said, "Lord, I can't understand what 'everlasting' means." Immediately and without thought, He said to me, "It means from eternity to eternity."

I'm so excited for all the times in the future when my Lord will take me by surprise and knock me off my seat in amazement, awe, and love with more "talks" with Him.

Again, thank you all for sharing your stories, words of wisdom, and scripture. I am happily His sheep from eternity to eternity.

Thou art near O Lord (Psalm 119:151)

O Lord ...Thou hast done wonderful things (Isaiah 25:1)

What you have said is beautiful. To be in the Lap of His Love held by the Saviour is the place I long always to be. He alone is able to turn our sorrow to peace and joy.

O Lord may we all open the ears of our hearts to Your voice of love. May we fall into those Everlasting Arms and lean upon Your breast. And when the noise of sorrow, pain and grief are loud in our minds, may we listen for that lovely whisper of Your voice that draws us closer to You.

Let the beauty of the Lord our God be upon us..Psalm 99:17

hmmm I envy you guys ( forgive me Lord if I have sinned). I desperately need the Lord's voice everyday to guide me and strengthen me. But that's why we have the Bible right. Everything that we need in a particular situation is in the Bible. We just have to find it.

Hmmm. I don't mean to discourage you but I don't think God will ever show us his face because it says that in His word that no human being on earth has ever seen his face. That makes Mormonism false because what Joseph Smith saw was a false Jesus and a false god the father. (a work of Satan).

God bless! =D Love you all. <3

Speak Lord for Thy servant heareth (1 Samuel 3:9)

Dear iahm87

Yes we do have the word of God to guide us.

But the Lord really does speak to our hearts...whether it is a gentle whispering or a clear voice. If you pray and open your heart to being receptive to His beautiful voice then you will hear Him in which ever way He sees fit to guide you.

I continually heard God's sweet voice when I was in an awful backslidden state at a time when I was in no fit state to turn to His word for guidance. It was His voice that lovingly drew me back to Him.

So iahm don't hmmm as you did in your post...just trust the power of an Almighty God to communicate with us in many ways according to our needs in His will.

His heart is fixed trusting in the Lord Psalm 84:6

May you experience the delights and wonders of the Lord's voice speaking to your heart

Julia

Woah that's so awesome, that's exactly how He spoke to me! I thought it was a sibling, but the voice was different, it was gentle too! It's incredible hearing His voice audibly, or audibly to us anyways!! I was blown away..I too did not respond to hear what He wanted to tell me, and it made me so upset. I love Him so much...Yes, friend your not alone, your not crazy, Our Lord spoke to you, and He did it in a beautiful way, you are precious to Him, God bless.
