Colossians 1:18- 23
18 Christ is the head of the church, which is his body. He is the first of all who will rise from the dead,* so he is first in everything. 19 For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, 20 and by him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of his blood on the cross. 21 This includes you who were once so far away from God. You were his enemies, separated from him by your evil thoughts and actions, 22 yet now he has brought you back as his friends. He has done this through his death on the cross in his own human body. As a result, he has brought you into the very presence of God, and you are holy and blameless as you stand before him without a single fault. 23 But you must continue to believe this truth and stand in it firmly. Don’t drift away from the assurance you received when you heard the Good News. The Good News has been preached all over the world, and I, Paul, have been appointed by God to proclaim it. Romans 3:21-26 21 But now God has shown us a different way of being right in his sight—not by obeying the law but by the way promised in the Scriptures long ago. 22 We are made right in God’s sight when we trust in Jesus Christ to take away our sins. And we all can be saved in this same way, no matter who we are or what we have done. 23 For all have sinned; all fall short of God’s glorious standard. 24 Yet now God in his gracious kindness declares us not guilty. He has done this through Christ Jesus, who has freed us by taking away our sins. 25 For God sent Jesus to take the punishment for our sins and to satisfy God’s anger against us. We are made right with God when we believe that Jesus shed his blood, sacrificing his life for us. God was being entirely fair and just when he did not punish those who sinned in former times. 26 And he is entirely fair and just in this present time when he declares sinners to be right in his sight because they believe in Jesus. Hebrews 10:10-14 10 And what God wants is for us to be made holy by the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all time. 11 Under the old covenant, the priest stands before the altar day after day, offering sacrifices that can never take away sins. 12 But our High Priest offered himself to God as one sacrifice for sins, good for all time. Then he sat down at the place of highest honor at God’s right hand. 13 There he waits until his enemies are humbled as a footstool under his feet. 14 For by that one offering he perfected forever all those whom he is making holy. |

Romans 4:10-16
10 How then, is it reckoned? Being in circumcision or uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision. 11 And he obtained the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which was in uncircumcision, for him to be the father of all those who are believing through uncircumcision, for righteousness to be reckoned to them, 12 and the father of the Circumcision, not to those of the Circumcision only, but to those also who are observing the elements of the faith in the footprints of our father Abraham, in uncircumcision. 13 For not through law is the promise to Abraham, or to his Seed, for him to be enjoyer of the allotment of the world, but through faith's righteousness. 14 For if those of law are enjoyers of the allotment, faith has been made void and the promise has been nullified, 15 for the law is producing indignation. Now where no law is, neither is there transgression. 16 Therefore it is of faith that it may accord with grace, for the promise to be confirmed to the entire seed, not to those of the law only, but to those also of the faith of Abraham, who is father of us all, Romans 5:18-21 18 Consequently, then, as it was through one offense for all mankind for condemnation, thus also it is through one just award for all mankind for life's justifying. 19 For even as, through the disobedience of the one man, the many were constituted sinners, thus also, through the obedience of the One, the many shall be constituted just. 20 Yet law came in by the way, that the offense should be increasing. Yet where sin increases, grace superexceeds, 21 that, even as Sin reigns in death, thus Grace also should be reigning through righteousness, for life eonian, through Jesus Christ, our Lord |

Re: Does God Forgive All Sins? -

"For we must all appear before the judgement seat of Christ that each one may receive what is due him for things done while in the body, whether good or bad." (2 Cor 5:10)
Like it or not, while we are in our earthly bodies (saved or unsaved) we are in the flesh and subject to sinning (see Romans 7) and we must pay some sort of penalty for those sins. However, true Christ followers are no longer under condemnation (see Ro 8:1-2). Being a practicing slave to sin cuts us off from God. In coming to Christ, however, we say "NO!" to our sin nature. But, the enemy continues to tempt us and he sometimes succeeds. Those sins, too, carry penalties, but, they do not bring condemnation. I'm NOT saying that there are big sins and little sins. Sin is sin. All sin carries the same penalty level. Condemnation here means permanent and total separation from God; eternity in Hell for the unrepentant sinner who dies in his sin. That's a lot different than penalties for true Christ followers; penalties that have an ending and do not sever our relationship with God. SLE |

Matthew 12 v 31
Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. This was our text last Lord's Day past. It was expounded to mean that blasphemy of the Holy Ghost is those rejection of Jesus Christ. I think it strange the way some think they can clean themselves up before they come to Jesus, they think it's a work they can do without realizing it is only Christ's blood that does redeem us and cleanse us. Perhaps I shouldn't categorize all the same as my husband, it's only by listening to him that I understand this to be his thinking, and no matter how much I've tried to help him understand we can't do anything, it makes no differance. Perhaps it's a lame excuse, to put off something which he really doesn't want. I was told today about a lady whom I always persumed to be a Christian, told my Mum's neighbour that when she asked her if she was a Christian she said she was good enough, she's a well churched lady, so I'm sure she's knows the gospel. Both her and her husband are well up in years, and his answer was he likes his life the way it is, he likes his pint. Sorry if I've strayed of the track slightly, I didn't mean to. |
