Word 4U 2day/Don't be a clown - - 12-08-09, 01:02 PM

Don't be a clown - practice those circus skills!

'Without these qualities you can't see what's right before you ...' 2 Peter 1:9

Brian Dyson once said this to a bunch of young students: 'Imagine life as a game in which you are juggling five balls in the air. You name them: work, family, health, friends and spirit. You will soon understand that work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back. But the other four balls are made of glass. If you drop any of these they will be irrevocably scuffed, marked damaged or even shattered. They will never be the same. You must understand that and strive for balance in your life.'

You may feel like some of those things aren't relevant to you now; but it's really important to start to get the balance right now, to prepare you for the future. You need to focus on keeping your relationships with your family and friends healthy, making sure physically you're in good shape, and most importantly, keep your spiritual life fresh and on track.

Work, although it can bounce, is still important (after all, God's first task for Adam at creation was to work, looking after the land so He must see it as pretty important). Don't spend all your time with your mates, and forget about the rest, or all your time locked in the house doing nothing but reading the Bible. God says balance is good. Check out the rest of 2 Peter 1:5-9 for more balls that it's good to balance.

this is a great message, I sometimes find it hard to balance everything in my life. I can get frustrated too, because my family complains I spend too much time with friends, vice versa, and not enough time with school. This will help me to come up with a plan to make my life more organized :)
