'No strings attached' love

'Can anything ... separate us from Christ's love? ...' Romans 8:35

Think back to the playground at primary school. You're there in your pigtails, or your short trousers, happily playing, thinking everything is great. Then you see your best friend playing with someone else, so you go over to join in; but they stick their tongue out at you, turn around and say 'I'm not playing with you, I'm not your friend anymore', and you run off in tears to find the dinner lady. Ring any bells? Do you remember anything a bit like that?

We can be a bit fickle, human beings; falling out with people for the stupidest reasons (not sharing toys, looking at a boyfriend the wrong way) or even for serious reasons, like betrayal, or physical hurt. Because that's our experience in life, our minds can't quite cope with the 'no strings attached' kind of love that God offers us.

We don't get that there's no small print: we're always waiting for the catch, for God to turn round and say 'Sorry mate, I've had enough of you. I don't want to know you anymore'. But get this: '... I'm absolutely convinced that ... absolutely nothing can get between us and God's love...' (Romans 8:38 TM).

How incredible is that? God will never stop loving you. No matter what. He knows exactly what you're like, and He loves you so much. There's nothing that God can't get over; so accept his no-strings-attached love today.

I remember the song by Delirious titled "I could Sing of Your Love Forever". I had to play it after this post. You are so right!

Christ's love is unfathomable.
