How do i know if God is talking to me? lately i have sometimes gotten the feeling that God is trying to talk to me, but as i don't know how to distinguish his voice from others, i never know what i should do, if it's my voice, or if God is really trying to tell me something. i really would like to know, because i feel i should be doing something that i am not doing, and i pray, but i don't know if God is telling me something or not. Please advise.

One of the ways that God talks to you is that he will put something in your heart and sometimes he'll either uses a situation or a person or both to confirm what he's trying to tell you. And other times he'll just put someone in your path to guide you. Glory be to God. I hope this helps. Plus once God has put something in your heart that it's also in line with his word and his ways. Hi Sapphire Spirit! After I was first made to be a believer in our Jesus,I had heard many things from others about Jesus. Our Pastor had a sermon on John 14:12-14, being new much like yourself,our Church went out to a resturant for ice cream, I did not have any money!! LOL

Not knowing any better as many children behave,I thought, here is my chance to test this scripture,and see if this is true! Apart from the others I prayed Lord,I would really like some icecream,but I have no money,they have asked me to join them,so Lord I am looking unto you for my need to be met!

You said in your Word WHATEVER you ask,I do believe you want me to be with them,so I have to believe you will allow me to enjoy some icecream with them as well,So Jesus I humbly ask this need be met by you for me,and thank YOU! That was it! I went.

Now we have a very nice time,there was about 12 of us around the table having hot fudge on top of our icecream,now,it is time to leave!! A bill was handed to me for a dollar and something,oh,oh!! The rest of the church left and said we will meet you by the car when you are done paying for your icecream. OH oh!

As I sat there, the enemy came by to say hello, lol Now you've done it!! How are you going to pay for that!! You are going to look pretty stupid when you had that ticket to the cashier,and you have no money!

I said devil!! Jesus said WHATEVER you ask!! I trust Jesus so be gone!! I got up,went to hand the ticket to her,she pushed the buttons put out her hand to recieve the money,and open flew the door behind!!" OH Mark I wanted to tell you I was paying for everyone today!!" He handed the money to the cashier,and I went out skipping and jumping and Praising God!! It was dum I know!!

But I really did not know any better,and this is why the Good Lord Jesus came to my rescue! ( hebrews 11:6) I said all of this,to point this out to you! You will never know the difference between our Lord and your flesh unless you do something about it. I have made plenty of mistakes in this,but I also have learned much as well,and as you know we can never learn unless we do.( james 1:22)

Get deep into his Word!! Study to show yourself approved.( 2 tim 2:15) and have fun learning the difference!! When we start to really learn what it means to trust Jesus,we also find out how much it means to love Jesus!! Blessing!

You have to put the thoughts on trial.
Like if the thought/voice causes fear then remember that God has not given us a spirit of fear,but of love,power and a sound mind.If you don't know much scripture then you should always remember that God is Love.So if you happen to notice someone is down and you get the urge to cheer them up then that could be you or it could be God but it would be good either way.
Things that are good either way are one of Gods "ways".

i feel i should be doing something that i am not doing

A sense of purpose can make you feel that way.The more we pray the more we will sense purpose in life and it tends to stretch us.
If you ask God to reveal any wrong way in you then trust that he is able to do that.
