    What does this dream mean?

I hope I am posting this at the right forum.

My sister recently had an operation and her right ovary was removed. She is not born again and I have been praying that God may use this experience to bring her to Him.

    This is the dream I had;
I dreamt that my sister was going through alot of pain. Then I asked her what was wrong, and she and my mother told me that she had the wound of the crown of Jesus (the crown of thorns) on her right side and she even showed it to me. It really looked painful and then at the same time we were watching TV and people were carrying swords and killing each other. I talked to my mother and she told me that my sister is a bit confused about her situation and I remember telling my mother to pray for her.

That was my dream. I dont know if it is just a dream, or if someone out there thinks it has a meaning.
I would appreciate anyone who writes something on this...

    Hi Sister,

I'm not too sure what your dream meant either. Maybe it could have been the Lord heeding you to talk to your sister about Him.

It's interesting that she said that she had the "crown of thorns" like Jesus had -- because, Jesus suffered and died for us.

Humm...if you could tell us how you felt abuot the dream, maybe I could help you more!

    Blessings,
    monkeys

Question: "Christian dream interpretation? Are our dreams from God?"

Answer: GotQuestions.org is not a Christian dream interpretation service. We do not interpret dreams. We strongly believe that a person's dreams and the meaning of those dreams is between them and God alone. Does God still speak through dreams? God has spoken to people many times throughout the Scriptures by means of dreams. Examples would be Joseph son of Jacob (Genesis 37:5-10), Joseph the husband of Mary (Matthew 2:12-22), Solomon (1 Kings 3:5-15), and several others (Daniel 2:1; 7:1; Matthew 27:19). There is also a prophesy of the Prophet Joel (Joel 2:28), quoted by the Apostle Peter in Acts 2:17, that mentions God using dreams. So the simple answer is yes, God can and does speak through dreams.

However, there is a difference of how we apply that truth to today. One thing we must keep in mind is that the Bible is finished, having covered everything we need to know from now until eternity. This is not to say that God does not work miracles or even speak through dreams today.

The difference is that God has already revealed the way He chooses to deal with mankind from now to eternity – in the Bible. Anything God says, whether it is a dream, vision, "still small voice" etc., will agree completely with what He has already revealed in His Word.

Dreams cannot be put into a place of authority over the Scriptures. Again, IF God were to speak to a person in a dream, His message would be in perfect agreement with His Word. Due to our belief in the inspiration, authority, and sufficiency of Scripture, we find it highly unlikely that God regularly speaks through dreams today. At the same time, we cannot conclusively deny the possibility based on Scripture.

If you have a dream and feel that perhaps God gave it to you, prayerfully examine the Word of God and make sure your dream is in agreement with Scripture. If so, prayerfully consider what God would have you do in response to your dream (James 1:5). In Scripture, whenever anyone experienced a dream from God, God always made the meaning of the dream clear, whether directly to the person, through an angel, or through a messenger (Genesis 40:5-11; Daniel 2:45; 4:19). When God speaks to us, He makes sure His message is clearly understood.

I can not agree with this statement, we need the HolySpirit to show us everything. He leads us into all truth not the bible. The bible is inspired by the HolySpirit but should never replace Him. The bible is a tool so we won't be misled by deceiving spirits. But the bible is not the finished product of all that God is saying, the HolySpirit still speakes and reveals and it will compliment the Bible. It's this kind of statement that discourages people from becoming intimate with the HolySpirit and learning to listen and be directed by him and it is part of a false teaching that the bible is that which is perfect in 1Corinthians 13:9&10

For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. 10*But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

    John 16:12-15
12*“Oh, there is so much more I want to tell you, but you can’t bear it now. 13*When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not be presenting his own ideas; he will be telling you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future. 14*He will bring me glory by revealing to you whatever he receives from me. 15*All that the Father has is mine; this is what I mean when I say that the Spirit will reveal to you whatever he receives from me.

The apostles had scripture and Jesus even read scriptures in the synogogue, but Jesus said the HolySpirit will guide you into all truth and not the scriptures. When people are led by the scripture alone it in many cases births false teaching and doctrine. A good example to this are the pharisees, they studied the scriptures daily and yet they could not recognize the Messiah standing right in front of them. Paul said we are living epistles so don't retire the Author before He is finished. We need you, HolySpirit.

    This is what i know

This is what i know about dreams:

Dreams may come from 3 areas:
    1. Ourselves
    2. From the devil
    3. From God

Dreams that come from the devil have only one purpose,to scare us,and therefore are known as nightmares.

Dreams that come from God are to nudge us to act and to pray(they did that to Pharoah during Joseph's time)

A dream that comes from God must be repeated twice(though differently), confirm from people who dreamt in the Bible.

A dream from God does not terrorise.

Interpretation of dreams is given by God just as Joseph and Daniel claimed before their respective rulers of their times.

So pray that God will give you interpretation of your dream.

Read Job 33:14-15.God bless you as you get the answer

I'm not a dream interpreter but what came to my mind was when Jesus told Saul (before he became Paul)... "it is hard to kick against the pricks", meaning it's a hard life and paintful one to keep fighting the Lord.

Sigh......if and when you get a dream from God....you will know it is from God.
You will have no need to ask any person whether the dream was from God or not.....well, at least that is how it has been in my own experience.

God has given me several dreams over the years....that were directly from Him. They were either warnings, or they were direct encouragement to seek His will and follow Him. The dreams from Him are different than regular dreams, and only HE can answer your questions about your dream, Bridgette, unless the Lord give you a certain person to interpret the dream for you.

I get impatient with people at my church and Sunday School who say that God does not give dreams to people any longer because we have the Scriptures. How bogus can we get?

So does that mean that God doesn't need to speak to us as an individual anymore, either? Does that mean that all those times God reassured me, directed me, loved on me, with His marvelous voice....that I just imagined the whole thing?

    No way!

God is Lord and He can speak however and whenever He wants!

Bridgette, tell us more about your dream. But more importantly, pray to God personally about your dream, pray just from you to Him. Because of what the dream involved, it very possibly could have been a message from God to you. You don't want to miss out on that.

    Love in Christ,
    Dreamer

P.S. I might get in trouble for saying this, but here goes anyway. :

When you've got questions....go to God. He wants to answer your questions! Not that God
doesn't use gotquestionsdotcom, but....wouldn't you rather hear it from the Father Himself?

God still speaks to us! Through the Word of God and in other ways too. His sheep hear His
    voice!
