Does anyone know where I can go to get a spiritual advisor. I know my question may seem a bit weird but ..well Im studying on how to discern the voice of God and a couple of the books Im reading strongly encourage getting 2-3 spiritual advisors. The book says that they can aid in being able to recognize God's voice on my own and as my walk get stronger It will become more and more clear. Well most of the people I know arent saved. The book says I should know this person well because ..well lets say Im having car trouble and I dont know what to do. I can ask these persons to pray for me and then come back to me on what the Lord has spoken to them, confirm it with what I believe God has already told me and if it's different then go back to the Lord in prayer ect. ect. So I know some websites offer like you know big brother, big sister type things. I was wondering if anyone knew of a place that offered spiritual advisors similar to the big brother associations.

Hello setapart. Regarding spiritual advisors may I suggest that first of all you approach your Pastor. I am sure that he will put you on the right track in this matter, and perhaps he will become an advisor to you in your Christian walk and life.

I notice that you are reading 'How to Discern the voice of God' I offer a word of caution, that is all it is, a word of caution. Be aware. There are many books about today commencing with the title "How to........." Do not trust them absolutely..........

I suggest that you read through the book of Proverbs. 31 chapters, a chapter for each day of the month. Believe me when you reach the end of that book you will be a much wiser person. You may even want to read through Proverbs again!

Stephen God Bless You!!! Ive been waiting so long for someone to respond to this post. Thank you for your advice. I suppose that is why I am so desperately seeking God's face and voice on such matters as those warnings. I am pretty naive when it comes to things of that nature and several ministers give so much scriptural reference and background it's hard to tell whom I should trust and shouldn't. I automatically trust when scripture is given, Im no scholar however, and I long to hear more from God sometimes. The Word and TV ministers help at times in counsel (Im a member of a large church so seeking my Pastor on things aside from necessity and emergency is not really an option) I will definitely began reading Proverbs though. Im sure nothing can lead me to God's voice like his own very Words in his Good Book. Thanks again
