John 5:25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.

Is this an end time event?
How does the "now is" fit in all these doctrines?

Revelation 17:8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.

Ok we have something that is not and yet is.
    Is means "now",I know this because Jesus IS the resurrection,the day,the light,the life,the way.etc..

It seems to me that resurrection is possible to individuals "now is"which leads me to believe the son of perdition is probably not a single character in a neat timeline all nice and tidy for our human understanding. We may be surprised by who he actually is.Just as we might be suprised who the dead really are.
Hey aren't we supposed to be dead, buried, resurrected and seated in heavenly places with Christ "now is"?

John 12:31 "Now is" the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.
Are we waiting for this event?

    Hello thiscrosshurts.

I always enjoy reading your posts thiscrosshurts.

Interesting questions, but I do think I can provide answers.

Whether my answers are correct or not you be the judge.

For the first question concerning John 5:25, I will provide the
    relevant scripture in context.

    John 5

24 “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me,
has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life

25 Truly, truly, I say to you, an hour is coming and now is, when the dead will hear
the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live.

    26 For just as the Father has life in Himself, even so He gave to the Son also to have life in Himself;

27 and He gave Him authority to execute judgment, because He is the Son of Man.

28 Do not marvel at this; for an hour is coming, in which all who are in the tombs will hear His voice,

29 and will come forth; those who did the good deeds to a resurrection of life,
those who committed the evil deeds to a resurrection of judgment.

    ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So it appears that there are two events, one is the present and one is in the future.

In the now, people hear the voice of God almighty respond and pass from death (sin and death)
    to life (promise of immortality).

The future hour is judgement day, this involves the resurrection
    of the dead.

What thinketh ye of this interpretation this crosshurts.

Thats the best I've heard stuck in linear time. But it's kind of like a box drawn on paper with only the lines.I can change perspective and make the front and back(or top and bottom) flip. Then the first is last and the highest is the lowest.I think we are looking at everything backwards. You see it as a promise I see it as a promise redeemed upon belief.

John 5 24 “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.

I don't see any waiting here just hearing,I am being told if I believe I have eternal life now.Is eternal life only for the dead?
Is eternal a far off promise or is there no time at all involved.

25 Truly, truly, I say to you, an hour is coming and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live.

Jesus said let the dead bury thier dead. so I think some are dead/dead then there are the living/dead(believers who have not heard his voice) and then there the living/being clothed with their heavenly dwelling without dirt being involved. These will be the ones who hear his voice.
I cannot say I have obtained this ,but I think I'm hearing voices that say "LIVE"....NOW

Oh,how many times I have said to the Holy Spirit"get behind me Satan"
only to find out I was rebuking God for not recognizing my holy cows.
    When did this take place?
    Ephesians 2:6 And hath raised
us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
Why bother praying thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven if I think the resurrection is a timebound event?

I just don't think anyone has actually ever believed and that why we are waiting.
