He Said Faith is More Than Just Trusting God

    So then What is Faith?
How do I cultivate the faith of God that is within me?
As a born-again believer, you have residing within your spirit the faith of God. You have the life and nature of God. Faith is a fruit of the reborn human spirit (Galatians 5:22). Your faith has the potential to produce the same results that Jesus produced in His earthly ministry (John 14:12).

Faith must be in the unseen before it can be applied to the things you can see. It is cultivated through fellowship with the Father. Your relationship with Him is the most important aspect of your faith walk. You cannot see God, but He will reveal Himself to you through His Word, by the Holy Spirit.

Faith that moves mountains is simply trusting God to keep His Word. You cannot trust God without knowing Him. Fellowship is quality time spent alone with God getting to know Him. Your fellowship with Him will develop trust. It will enhance your faith because you are giving Him the opportunity to reveal Himself to you. You will know Him. Fellowship with God Who is invisible gives birth to the kind of faith that can change things in the visible, physical realm.

You can also promote the development of your faith through meditation and confession of the Word of God. Faith is an action; when you believe that you receive, you will act like it. God told Joshua, "This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success" (Joshua 1:8). Meditation reveals how to act on the Word. Confession is part of meditation. When you are speaking the Word to yourself, you are meditating the Word. You cannot say one thing and think something else. What you meditate regulates what you believe. Meditation and confession will cause you to be able to believe God's Word enough to act on it in faith.

Faith is also developed through praying in the spirit. Jude 1 says, "But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost." Praying in other tongues is a spiritual exercise. As you spend time every day, praying in other tongues, you are keeping your spirit active rather than passive. You will be built up on your most holy faith!

Actually I don't know who wrote it. This time

Being a Wordsmith myself I'm quite sensitive about plagarism. Stealing is stealing. Right?

I appreciate your attitude towards this, I wouldn't classify it as stealing as long as there is no financial profiting involved, but it is nice to give credit where it is due if possible.

I think your in the clear and again I appreciate your attitude because this seems to be growing problem among the public forums now days. Thanks.

    What is faith?

    << Hebrews 11 >>
    King James Version
1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Faith is the gift of God which is the bi-product of a personal encounter with the invisible God. When God came to Moses through the angel in the burning bush, he was imparting faith unto Moses.

When I came to the end of myself and needed God, I looked up and cried out for help. God showed himself by preforming acts in my life. I did not know that God the Father was the God of the bible, nor did I believe or understand who Jesus was as his Son.

As I continued to respond to Gods sovereign acts in my life by faith that it was him doing such things, he left a bread crumb trail that led to my introduction to him as the God of the bible 5 years later.

I was lead to the word of God by the sovereign acts of God in my life that imparted the faith necessary for me to take the next step in my walk with him. All were his gifts. I responded to each appropriately and was rewarded with more faith.

Upon my being introduced to him as the God of the bible, he did not stop there but brought me through much heresy and false teaching to an understanding of his pure word and its ability to sanctify me wholly and set me apart for his use in ministry. This has been faith multiplied.

It was through this sovereign act of God to lead me into his truth that I came to understand this verse. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

The righteousness of God is revealed in those who walk in the faith that he has given them. And more so in those whom he gives more faith.

    Great topic Hombre,

    In Christ,

    Gary

LOL But it still doesn't say who wrote it. I usually leave out that its Copeland Ministries because so many Christians judge wrongly against them. These people though!! They preach it, they live it.

Hi El Hombre viejo: Have a think about this!

Romans 10:17: says: "Faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ." So faith comes from studying the word of God. Once you understand what God's standards are, faith is manifest through the act or works of applying those standards. Consider what James wrote on this matter.

James 2:17-22, says: "Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. But someone will say, "You have faith; I have deeds." Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do. You foolish man, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless? Was not our ancestor Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did. " (NIV)

Now consider this illustration: A young man may court a young lady, telling her that he loves her. But if he never asks her to marry him, is he really demonstrating that his love is thorough? Likewise, works are a means of demonstrating the genuineness of our faith and our love. If we do not obey God we do not really love him or have faith in the rightness of his ways. (1 John 5:3, 4) But we cannot earn salvation no matter what works we do. Eternal life is a gift from God through Jesus Christ, not payment for our works. (Ephesians 2:8, 9)

There are many ministers I don't agree with or listen to. However, I am smart enough to never put my words or mouth against them. The Lord is more than able to judge his own servants.

The Issue comes in when we believe that someone could not possibly be a servant of God, by their teaching, and so it's OK to slander them and put them down.

It's all good, because you also have to receive the same judgement regardless, if you do such things. Smart people pray for others, and never judge.

    Jesus Is Lord.

Hey Davy Consider this. Faith comes by HEARING. How about the theologin theologan theo....oh dear....the guy who studies the WORD for years and still has no faith to believe for healing, or prosperity, or deliverance, or anything our covenant entitles him to.

Faith, as you say, required works. I agree with that completely. But what are the works? Feeding the poor? Anyone can do that. Helping little old ladies across the street... again anyone.... In truth, the hardest work you will ever do is to believe GOD against the evidence of your own circumstances, or sight. GOD says "By JESUS stripes I was healed. Means it , done two thousand years ago. Before I was even born I was healed of any and every disease that can set itself against me. So, I take the easy way out. I just die when pnumonia comes on me. Or I get to work and ( stand on the WORD and send it packing. Oh Davy. That's hard!!
The time I was laying in bed with the flu. Two days I lay there, sick, miserable...The third day dawned and I was no better but I got mad. I came against the flu with a yell of anger and sent it back to where it came from. I got out of bed and got into my bathrobe, then headed for the kitchen. Before I got to my coffee pot I felt wonderful and ready to go play (four days on and four days off are wonderful).
So what was the work of faith? I remembered what FATHER had told me. "By JESUS stripes you were healed." And I believed HIM and came against the enemy who had to flee.

There are many types of works. Most of which are very good but I have to ask. Which ones demonstrate real faith. Feeding the poor (a very worthy work) or standing on what Father says and doing it, believing it just as HE said it?
