    Need fresh new music

Good day audience. I need some brothers' and sisters' recommendations for andrenalized Christian music. I've asked this a few times, but now I need a new start again. I've been listening to the same old half dozen Christian songs in my car every day. I'm wearing them out and I don't want that to happen. I have 15 songs on my computer, but the 6 or so in my car are my favorites.

I need to add more new music so I can draw away from the secular sounds. I came to realize that the secular music I've been listening to for the last 20 years (I'm actually 26 years old by the way) is very powerful, in a way to hurt someone. For example, it makes me feel adrenalized in the wrong way sometimes, especially driving a car. I don't feel possessed by music or such, just that it pumps me up to a point where I feel a bit crazy adrenalized rather than hyper for GOD adrenalized. Naturally, secular music is not going to get me fueling for GOD. That is why I wish to drop the junk and pickup some new worship music.

Here is what I listen to as of current:

    Casting Crowns
    - Who Am I (my favorite)
    - Voice of Truth
    - If We are the body

    Rebecca St James
    - Breathe
    - Above All
    - GOD
    - God of Wonders

    Mercy Me
    - I Can Only Imagine

    Hilsong
    - Our GOD
    - Worthy is the Lamb

    Third Day
    - I belive

The secular music I listen to is mainly Guns N' Roses. I grew up on that since '87 and to be honest, I love the music. Its my thing, the energy, the power and adrenaline. I have yet to hear any worship music that strong and it does bother me because the gift of music is from GOD, so something out there should easily top of any secular band (amen).

What can anyone here recommend? Please refrain from 80's hair spray bands LOL.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Chad,

I am at this moment listening to a wonderful artist/singer named Ross Parsley from his album "I am free". The songs I like the most (I like them all though) are:

    Hear us from Heaven
    I stand in awe
    I am free
    On my lips

I myself tend to listen to music that is easy listening but I do like some of the fast pace worship songs. I love songs that worship the Lord - slow or fast as long as they are easy on my ears.

    Best wishes,
    Snowrose

Tree63 my friend, that's the only energy Christian music I listen to.
It's a South African band, and they rock. lol at guns 'N roses, that's the last thing I expected you to listen to Chad. I have got a huge collection of secular music and until a few months ago, I listened to heavy, death, power and nu metal every single day.

Tree63 change my mind and now I'm at ease. If my friends come over I play a metal song or two, but it never gets me in the same mood it always did.

I agree with Teraside. That was good counsel. Tree 63 is excellent. Some fresh air to the contempory christian music scenario. You will enjoy it for sure. It has a rock sound to it. Go for their album Tree63 - "The Answer To The Question." Excellent job.

I remember your previous mail asking the same question. And if you remember my opinion was to listen to PETRA. For me PETRA is the best Christian Rock Band. They are not playing anymore.... after about 30 years of ministry(different line up of course).

I'll give you the name five of the very best albums by Petra. You should listen to it. I can guarantee that you will love them.
    1. Petra - On Fire
    2. Petra - Beyond Belief
    3. Petra - Unseen Power
    4. Petra - Wake Up Call
    5. Petra Praise - The Rock Cries Out

This five albums came out with best line up of Petra. All veterans.

    John Schlitt - Lead Vocals
    Bob Hartman - Guitars, (Lyricist)
    John Lawry - Key board
    Louie Weaver - Drums
    Ronny Cates - Bass

John (lyrics) & Dino Elefante - Producers

I say, Petra is one must-hear band for every christian music lover. They rocked for Jesus. Uncompromising lyrics rich in the word. Unique style of rock music. Pls Chad.... go and listen to it. For me Petra was God's answer when I needed deliverance from secular rock. I'm sure you will love it

    God bless
    Gideon

PS. There are other Petra albums which are good. But I suggest you listen these albums first. Then I'll tell you about the older albums.

    The Choir

    Newsboys

That's just a few you could also try Charlie Peacock, Adam Again, The Violet Burning. There is also lots of Christian Blues and Rap!!
If you have a Christian bookstore close to you, go and listen to the demo music they have and see what you might like. I use to do that all the time and that's how I got to know a lot of Christian music!!!
    Good luck and good listening!!!

Chad: How about new arrangements of old standards. For instance , Vineyard Music has updated arrangements for the old standard "Amazing Grace" that really rock.
