response to Two Questions - 08-09-08, 07:38 PM

Paul spoke by the Holy Spirit, not of his own accord, and it is the wise and prudent whom the Truth is hid from, and are they who would have the scriptures modified.
As a rule, we must needs learn to not think above that which is written.
For if we were to apply philosophical logic to scripture as do the wise and prudent, then by their mind-set, we may take anything, for example, that Paul said, and modify it to suit what we will; for we may say that, when Paul said: "For by grace are ye saved through faith"; we then may say that, Paul was only talking about those people at that particular time, or again, when Paul said that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, he was referring only to the people of Laodicea(where I Timothy was written); and on and on can one modify scriptures.
Another point concerning speaking in tongues, we must consider that, if speaking in tongues no longer exists as some wise and prudent proclaim, then neither can the rest of the manifistations of the Spirit exist, including faith, healing, words of knowledge, and wisdom, nor miracles, neither prophecy, nor discerning of spirits. Now we know very well this cannot be, that faith no longer exists, but we also cannot pick and choose what we donīt want to exist anymore either.
We are born again by the Word of God, and the Wordīs written in this book(ie: the Bible) are Godīs Wordīs spoken by holy men as they were moved by the Holy Ghost, and are closed to any private interpretation, and we are to be guided by the Spirit of Truth, who shall teach us all things, and who will guide us into all Truth, and we need not that any man teaches us.
