In 1 Cor 14:34, Paul tells the Corinthian church that women should be silent in church. I believe that he posted that rule in order to keep things organized. It wouldn't do for arguments to be breaking out between husbands and wives while services were going on, and that, I suspect, is what was happening in the churches in Asia Minor.
